Re: PR ruined gaming for me
i hated arcade games before PR , its all about spamming , macros and E-Wangs. It encouraged people to hack and stat pad. i didn't like it at all , PR is the only reason i play FPS ( well besides TF2 , but its a good spammy game ).

Pr didn't really ruin gaming, but just increased my standards, I find my self having fun In games like mw2, but it quickly fades, unlike PR

Why you are even daring to play any other gamebuckie33 wrote:ever since I started playing PR I get pissed off at every other arcade or "sim" shooter because it would take 100 bullets to kill someone or because of radar I know where everyone is.
^ dunno if this is a good thing, but every dev should take notes from PR,
Best game of the year is actually a mod!
PR is the only game installed in my comp. Nothing else needed. Thanks to all DEVs

yeah project reality kinda changes the way you view games, u find arcade games like battlefield and mw to be less satisfying than they were previously

Yeah, whenever I play an arcadey FPS... it just doesn't cut it
. Well, Left4Dead is alright for a short while, but I'll always come back to PR, it's the game that gives me what I want.
Though sometimes I play Splinter Cell or the likes, and just do something different. But regarding FPS games, everything else is just bad
. Well, except for games like VBS2 JCOVE, that can get pretty intense

Re: PR ruined gaming for me
nah I don't feel the same way tbh
I only really play PR now, but I occasionally play another game for about two weeks before coming back to PR, its not that I don't enjoy the other game, its that I had a craving for a different experience, but the nature of that experience is shortlived and soon gets repetitive.
The main culprit ofc is COD4, great game, but once you've reached lvl 55 and done the single player on max...its got nothing left for you. Whereas PR's scope gives alot more longevity.

i still like multiplayer games, but MW and MW2 has just been such a letdown both in campaign and in multiplayer in comparison with the good old COD1-2 which were just epic

09 is going to ruin it even further...
I am sort of in the same boat, I can't play regular arcade shooters anymore because of PR.

I know the feeling, i cant play other FPS games anymore, only for story or so. But strategy and roleplaying games mix up with PR very nicely =)
Basicly all games that are made hollywood style, to generate money, are just unplayable.. need to have something more advanced and less simple.

Re: PR ruined gaming for me
I'm with you on this one, although only around 50% of the players had any concept of teamwork at all. Once I had played vBF2 it was the nail in the coffin for all other FPS for me, even my beloved Half Life.DesmoLocke wrote:For me, I would say the immersion factor is the biggest thing. The detail in the maps and weapons really draws me in.
I may be one in the minority that remembers the teamwork that vBF2 had in the early years. You could find a lot of squads using VOIP and working together to capture and (once in a blue moon) defend flags. Tank squads with engineer kits that roamed maps assaulting enemy positions. vBF2 has/had teamplay but it's just been very watered down for while now.
Then when I found PR I never went back to vBF2 and have become a sort of FPS snob. I will rarely even try any other FPS as I know full well that it will be tailored to the mass market and therefore not worth my time or money.
The fact that the Devs took a great game and made it even better just because they wanted to see/play that game and then share it with us still amazes me. Thankyou
Long Live PR

Hahaha, same here. Almost every other game suck because they just don't know how to play as teams in those games, nor is it encouraged.

Re: PR ruined gaming for me
I only play one other game, and its a 7-8 year old MMO called Dark Age of Camelot. The only reason I still play that, is the reason why I play PR. Teamplay is essential for success, and it's not dungeon hammering teamplay we're talking, its player vs player teamplay.
DAoC is the best mmo which I personally always will return to, and PR is the best fps out there which I will always return to.

I suppose then, it's not the games you can't play...it's the players who play those games.

Yes. It's the players, not the game.

Re: PR ruined gaming for me
I like how Red Orchestra handles weapon and infantry combat. Many things like, resting weapons, real weapon sway and no fire cones!. The ability to lean is a must. And the damage system, get hit in legs and lose speed, shot hands drop weapon. And much, much more, I wish someone made a modern warfare mod for that game.
But PR still has the best teamwork thanks to the BF2 organized squad system and a determined goal. To bad for the BF2 weapon handling, stuff like fire cones suck big time, so its a double edged sword of the engine.

Re: PR ruined gaming for me
My viewpoint is different being an older guy who has recently re discovered gaming, in PR although I am far from the best with twitching I can still have a very satisfying game by using tactics and teamwork.
If I was to play a more 'conventional' game I would be owned terribly, plus meeting guys I know makes it all the better.
Just PR on my machine too, oh with Mumble to make PR the best for my gameplay, the only thing is good Teamwork seems to be getting rarer.
