Wrong keyboard buttons

This has happened since BF2 days but I have never figured out why. Sometimes during play when I'm typing something my ? button comes out as - and vice versa, alot of them are screwed up. A friend told me it was a keyboard command you can enter so it will change the buttons. Anyone know this command? It is not my keyboard as it happens on multiple keyboards. Have anyone else seen it?

Using a laptop?
Some laptops have a button ( on the top row) to make a portion of the keyboard a number keypad.

No a Logitech EX110. Happened on numerous other keyboards.
