NEED HELP!!!!

Ive got the game properly and have downloaded the necessary patches and have downloaded the PR core,levels etc but when i click on the PR desktop icon i get this message:

any help appreciated please

You have to reinstall BF2 and PR. Start with installing BF2, then the expansions if you have any, patch 1.41, patch 1.5, then PR core and PR levels. Has to be in that order. You only have to use the patch if you have earlier PR versions installed.

i installed bf2 then the 1.41 patch and 1.5, did the pr core/levels and the patch and now i have to reinstall all that again?

I don't think reinstalling will help as I had that problem a while back and it ended up being something to do with my graphics card (I think). Try typing the error in google and see what you find. Let me know what you find.

Some other things you can try before you uninstall/reinstall.
Backup your BF2 folder that's inside your documents folder. Once you have a backup delete the original from your documents folder.
Try starting PR from your PR shortcut
a new default folder is created
link to your online account.
Quit out of PR.
Run the FULL update 1.41 again.
Start up PR then quit out.
Rerun Final v1.5
Next run battlefield cleaner to flush out your video cache files
Start up PR, join game and let the video 'optimize'(fill video card cache).
Play.

If all goes well (CTD gone) all you have to do to get your custom settings back is copy your 'control' file from your backup to the new profile folder.
path:
C:\Users\your user name here\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002
note: you may not have a 0002 folder so use 0001
