Where is the cache folder?
I've recently been having ctd problems so i've reinstalled a few times and did some things but when i tried to run bf2 cleaner, it said that i was missing my cache folder. I looked in my bf2 folder and all that's there is logocache, profiles, and dmp. Does anyone know where this folder could have went. And i think there might have been another file or 2 in my bf2 folder i just can't remember what they were

Re: Where is the cache folder?
Trash your BF2 cache files
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.
don't worry the files will be replaced with new ones when the game restarts.

Re: Where is the cache folder?
hey palerider if you get a chance to read this, I fixed my ctd problem in xp by creating a new admin accnt so just in case someone experiances the same trouble as me, you can recommend they try that. Just create a new admin acnt in xp and then start bf2 through that accnt and see if it wrks cause it did for me. I'm gonna wait till pr.v to reinstall project realitty tho cuz I uninstalled it thinking that mite have been the prob

Re: Where is the cache folder?
Thanks I'll make a note.
Usually I post from my list:
If you still have trouble run battlefield cleaner to flush out your video cache files
Still no joy?
Trash your BF2 cache files
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.

Still CTD?
Make a new user and try to join a server.
Don't worry about your settings yet, battlefield cleaner can transfer old
settings to the new one later
OK
Some other things you can try before you uninstall/reinstall.
Backup your BF2 folder that's inside your documents folder. Once you have a backup delete the original from your documents folder.
Try starting PR from your PR shortcut
a new default folder is created
link to your online account.
If all goes well (CTD gone) all you have to do to get your custom settings back is copy your 'control' file from your backup to the new profile folder.
path:
C:\Users\your user name here\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002
note: you may not have a 0002 folder so use 0001
Make a new user in my list is a new gaming user tho I can see how making a new user account would work. Getting your game settings back should work for you. You just need to paste your 'control' file into the right document folder for the new user.
Glad you got it fixed and shared how you did it.
