Im at my wits end pease help
First off I will post my specs and the my problem:
500WAT PSU MAKE NOT SURE
MOTHERBOARD:M4N78
GPU:GAIN WARD 260GTX 896 GOLDEN SAMPLE
RAM:3 STICKS 1GIG EACH 800MHZ KINGSTON
CPU:AMD ATHOLON X2 7850 2.8GHZ
ON BOARD SOUNCARD
BARRACUDA 1TERABITE HD
Right my problem is that my computer loses power, no shut down sequnce just loses power as if there is no mains plugged in, I have done the following to try and sort the situation out bear in mind I did NOT have water cooling installed but had a water cooliing radiator in because it was goin to get the pump and water cool the CPU:
Removed the radiator to inprove the air flow as the radiator was blocking the front two fans i.e. the fans were blowing on the radiator and not into the case, removed this it improved the air flow but still lost power.
Reformatted due to possiable software issue and heard that there is a virus that is going round causing similar issues with pcs problem still continues.
Opened up case when removing radiator and checked fans for dust, and looked into the case when the machine was running the fans are working.
Used METEST to check my memory ran for three hours passed 3 times and no errors found.
RAN CHKDSK NO PROBLEMS FOUND
I have downloaded 3 diffrent system monitors and checked temps of CPU RAM GPU MCP AND HD all seem to be normal, the cpu temp is showing normal temp of between 35- 45 degress c wen just surfing the net and what not, when under stress playing games goes upto from what I can gather from 45-55-60 around that temp, however when I check the bios temps it is showing when the pc has lost power and I check bios that the temp is around 57-60 degrees c. My maximum CPU temp from manufactor site is 73c so I dnt really know if it is overheating.
On a further note I was checking my bios after it just being on desktop internet and such things the temp was at i think 42 degrees c but I did notice that my bios date was out by 1 days ie it said 02/02/2010 so I corrected this to 03/02/2010 and I dnt know how important that is to the system I have seen a few post about systems that say check this because bios date and time are important, if anyone can help it would be much appreciated if you require any more info ask and I will provide as much as possiable

BIOS time and date are probably not the issue.
first i would look into is your power supply. do you have any way of testing this as in trying another one on your comp?

Re: Im at my wits end pease help
I dont think that is the problem it could be but it doubt it I have set the uninterrupiable power supply to got to the battery on MB if the PSU fails I could be wrong but form what I understand is that if the PSU fails it will go to the onboard battery and give me an error message before it shuts down plz correct me if I have got this wrongGeneral_J0k3r wrote:BIOS time and date are probably not the issue.

Re: Im at my wits end pease help
if you have an APC kinda thing it still won't work without your PSU working. it's just there to protect you from data loss if grid power cuts out. so it can still be the PSU.dominator200 wrote:I dont think that is the problem it could be but it doubt it I have set the uninterrupiable power supply to got to the battery on MB if the PSU fails I could be wrong but form what I understand is that if the PSU fails it will go to the onboard battery and give me an error message before it shuts down plz correct me if I have got this wrong
i don't get what you mean by MB battery? the tiny CMOS supporting battery? flat cell?

Random shut off, or just when in game?

errm I dnt no thats why I said if im wrong please tell me read in the settings of the UPS that it gives me options to allow for onboard power to take over if the psu fails and it will give me around 5-10mins of powerGeneral_J0k3r wrote:if you have an APC kinda thing it still won't work without your PSU working. it's just there to protect you from data loss if grid power cuts out. so it can still be the PSU.

Would say Ingame it has shut off when out of a game but only once and it was a reboot rather than a loss of power and it happened about 2mins after quiting the game, it generally happens when I have been on a game for a couple of hours rather than striaght awayMr.Hyde wrote:Random shut off, or just when in game?

so you have a cable going from ur UPS to your MoBo with an ATX plug? never heard of thatdominator200 wrote:errm I dnt no thats why I said if im wrong please tell me read in the settings of the UPS that it gives me options to allow for onboard power to take over if the psu fails and it will give me around 5-10mins of power
i still think that checking the PSU is a good guess.

it shouldn't really matter unless you added something very power hungry recently.dominator200 wrote:I cant see the sticker it could be on the other side on the psu were i cant see it

I went onto the asus website and went on the PSU estimater page it says that I would need only 300watts to run my systemGeneral_J0k3r wrote:it shouldn't really matter unless you added something very power hungry recently.

Re: Im at my wits end pease help
I doubt you only need 300watts to run that GTX 260, my guess is that your psu is probably not giving enough power or its dying.
