Re: Im at my wits end pease help
Basically I upgraded my computer of september of last year but kept the same case november of last year my PSU overheated and burnt out so i got it replaced and changed the case it has run fine since november untill about 2weeks ago when the computer just shut down and then it didnt happen again for about a week but I can almost garuntee that if I play a game for a couple of hours it will just lose power I can turn it on stright away after and my case dosent feel warm as it did when my PSU was failing last year it would heat up my room.General_J0k3r wrote:did it use to run smoothly as in did the problem suddenly arise?

ok. see my and noobfraggers posts above. try with another PSU if possible. other than that i'm afraid it could be a range of issues.
from what you say from heat info overheating shouldn't be the problem. you could check the emergency shutdown temp in your BIOS though (if you CAN set it there, i'm not sure).
PSU is still best bet i think. maybe someone else comes up with another idea?

Re: Im at my wits end pease help
I put a similar setup on the Newegg power supply calculator and it estimated 491 watts to run a phenom II x2, a high end motherboard, 1 GTX 260, 3 gigs of ram, 1 DVD-ROM, and 1 7200 RPM HDD.
So including fans and other stuff you could barely be running on a 500 watt psu especially if you have anything overclocked, for example if your 260 came pre overclocked. Also, since your PSU is unmarked, I am going to doubt that it is of very high quality or even mediocre quality. The PSU is one of if not the most important thing in your computer. If the psu does turn out to be the problem, I would recommend getting a high quality PSU of around 600watts from a brand such as Antec, Corsair, OCZ, or ABS.
