Oh Hai
I'm having a weird problem with my server connections. After 10-40 minutes of play i first get the "problem with your connection" message for a second or two (just like as a warning that the game is about to drop me out), then maybe a minute after that the message reappears and I'm dropped to the server selection screen. The only info I get from BF2 is "Your connection to the server has been lost".
Now I've had trouble with PunkBuster before and had to solve it by reinstalling the pb service as the pbupdate didnt solve it, but at least then I got a message that I was being kicked via punkbuster. This is just damn weird, and there is no set time on when this happens. It effectively prevents me from playing a full round. When I look at the networking activity graph after I've been kicked, it shows a 0 when the problem happens and a little spike after that.
I'm not quite sure, but it feels as if I got to play a lot longer on a round when I set the BF2.exe process affinity to only 1 core. I haven't tested as of yet to do the same to pr.exe, but I seriously doubt if that will do any good.
ANY ideas or help would be greatly appriceated, especially now when 0.9 is coming out with the new maps and all that fo'dizzle.
PEACE.
AND WAR TOO.
edit:
Win 7 x64, E8400, 4GB ram, nVidia 8800GT, ZoneAlarm + Avira AntiVir, No router or modem, a direct LAN connection 10/10
edit2:
Hmm looks like PnkBstrB.exe and the pbsvc.exe didn't have server authorization in zonealarm, I've now swithced them to 'allow'. I'll report back within an hour...

hmm still doesn't look good. I managed to play about 45 minutes on a german server, but then when joining another one I got the same treatment after 5 minutes.

I'm also having an issue like this except I get disconnected after 10-30 seconds of being on servers with a good ping, no disconnection message relating to Punkbuster. I started having this issue before 0.9 so it's probably on my end. Right now I just reinstalled Punkbuster so I'll give a report later on.

Try the PB service thingy pbsvc.exe instead of pbupdate - worked for me.Chef Tony wrote:I'm also having an issue like this except I get disconnected after 10-30 seconds of being on servers with a good ping, no disconnection message relating to Punkbuster. I think I found a fix for my original issue too - BF was having trouble with dual-cores somehow. I never had this on windows XP so I think 2 cores and Win 7 x64 are a bad combo for Battlefield. I have to set the processes bf2.exe and pr.exe affinity to a single core to avoid the dropouts.
Anyone know how to set the affinity permanently, without having to ctrl+alt+del to the taskmanager every time I start BF2?
