Vehicle Only Gamemode

Is anyone else pumped for the release of the Vehicle Warfare mode? I was already excited about the .9 release. But now im F*&#^*# #&#*) #A$&&*#$ #$&*&)#$...... happy.

Also, do you think very many servers will use this mode?

I'm very interested in playing it myself, but encouraging the masses to play it instead of just Muttrah AAS 24/7 for example is another matter.

Im predicting it will be a very popular gamemode indeed, and I would be very very surprised if at least one Vehicle Warfare 24/7 server doesn't spring up.

I just whish it could be integrated into some form of campaign, like you have an air warfare map on Kashan and the winning side gets to play Kashan 64 with jets spawning instantly while the losing side will have AA vehicles only 20 min after round start and jets 30 min after round start.

omg, I'm already afraid of driving tanks because of the responsibilities... but I guess with a server full of vehicles, it might not be so bad!!!

Because air combat is horrible with 64 jets in 4km, maybe.

It would just all be a ton of fighter jets since bomb jets are useless for air-to-air in this scenario, and helicopters wouldn't be used either since those air-to-air fights are decided by which helicopter fires the first AA missile/who gets killed by a fighter jet first.

There's reasons why the PR Devs haven't already used that map.

Main ones are:
- Graphics issues with the map size (low quality terrain, glitches).
- No proper BLUFOR or OPFOR carriers (eg. Nimitz class).

The Nimitzes bases are done, I think they're still being worked on. And yeah, it's low quality water. But you must compromise for a properly sized air combat map...

2) Still not 64 jets in the map; there's like 8 jets. Now multiply that by 8. It'd be like having a rave where everyone is moving at thousands of miles per hour, and are shooting everybody else. Yes, everyone is on drugs.


It's just not a feasible idea; to have a proper "Air Warfare" map, it would be only fighter jets (bombers are useless if there are no ground targets, helicopters don't stand a chance against the fighter jets and attack heli fights will quickly end with a single AA missile launch), and there would have to be one for everyone.

Since fighter jets only require 1 seat, that means there would have to be a whopping 32 jets per side. I don't know about you, but I see enough jets crash into each other on Kashan to even try to imagine what kind of stupid accidents will happen with 64 jets in open sky with no AA threat, not to mention the fact that any attempt to actually FIGHT in that nonsense will probably result in just as many friendlies killed as enemies.

Air Vs. Air Mode in 3 Steps:

Step One: Seethed Waters is fixed up OR an 8*8 Static Terrain Map is made

Step Two: Someone models a Nimitz and Chinese Carrier (Not neccesary with an 8*8 Static terrain map)

Step Three: Separate Helo Pilot and Jet Pilot Kits

In AvA mode There are 3-4 Flags that are only cappable by the Helo's (Helo Pilot Kit), AAV's (Crewman Kit) and FAC's (Officer Kit).

32 player team

1 Player Per Jet * 8 Jets avg. = 8 Players
2 Players Per Chopper * 8 Choppers avg. = 16 Players
1 Player Per AAV * 5 AAV's avg. = 5 Players
3 FAC's = 3 Players

8 Players + 16 Players + 5 Players + 3 Players = 32 Players * 2 Teams = 64 Players

^ The above is only for a 64 person game. Just divide those ratios down for any other game size.

Helos Attack/Defend Flags
AAV's Attack/Defend Flags
Jets Defend Helos from opposing Jets and hit spotted targets
FAC's Gather Intel for the team, Defend Flags, and spot targets for the aircraft.
