Playing it on lower difficulty levels would give you crosshairs, you could see where your friendly group is, enemies on your map...buckie33 wrote:I had the Arma 2 demo but it was really laggy, and I think it had the cross hairs on the screen and I think you could see the enemy on your radar. Correct me if im wrong.
Havnt play the Red Orch game, looks good though
On Veteran mode, you can't even see yourself on the map, and would make proper map reading very important.
But then again, thats ArmA2, PR still takes plenty of cake.

PR IS THE BEST EVEN IF IT IS A MOD OF A DEAD GAME!

Umm, I don't see how BF2 is dead? I mean, there's still thousands of players playing every day, right?
I agree though, PR is the best game (mod) that I have ever played.

There wouldn't be thousands of players playing BF2 if they only knew about PR, and the rest that know about it but continue to play BF2, that's because they didn't take the time to learn the game as it does have a steep learning curve and thus resorted back to that arcade shooter. I honestly don't know why or how they continue to play that game, it's a step up from playing with bots, as the people are a little smart or better, but no one coordinates actions or follows orders...Wrestlers_Konglisch wrote:Umm, I don't see how BF2 is dead? This game has ruined other games for me. Before i played games and wished for team work. Since i've played other games i've been ruined. Call of Duty people just either run around like crazy or they camp and there is zero team work. And nobody communicates. I love this mod!!!!!!

I think that Project Reality is the best mod. BF BC is ridiculed, fired by an emulator and therefore has such high requirements. Series battlefield begins roll, began with BF 2142.

Or you can play both. I enjoy playing both. It just depends on what mood I'm in.DaKillerFox wrote:There wouldn't be thousands of players playing BF2 if they only knew about PR, and the rest that know about it but continue to play BF2, that's because they didn't take the time to learn the game as it does have a steep learning curve and thus resorted back to that arcade shooter. As far as following orders, you need to find the right servers. Or join a clan. PR is unique in that the majority of this small community likes the teamwork aspect. I think I read somewhere on these forums that it's more of a "Project Teamwork" mod.

I doubt there's any emulation involved. It's probably resource hungry because of the combination of detailed graphics, destruction and immense view distance.Jakiel wrote:BF BC is ridiculed, fired by an emulator and therefore has such high requirements.
Others say the series began to decline with BF Vietnam, I personally think BC2 has better game play than BF2.Jakiel wrote:Series battlefield begins roll, began with BF 2142.

If you don't mind me asking, why do you go back to playing vBF2? I just don't see the appeal in it. I lost the appeal after 2 hours of playing it right after I bought it and now that I've played PR, I don't think I'm ever going back. I will admit that sometimes PR is frustrating and it is hard, because it is a bit unforgiving, but I am not at the point where I will go back and play vanilla any time soon. I remember on the 2nd night I played it after I bought it, about 2 months ago, there was nothing but a sniper sausage fest on one of the vBF2 servers. Everyone just grabbed a sniper kit, ran for the hills and tried to snipe the other side before they sniped you. This went on for 30 minutes before I got so tired of spawning, grabbing a kit, running into the hills and getting a couple of kills and then getting killed myself. All the while there are noobs just strolling around on the hill in full sniper gear getting pwned left and right. Ungh, I have a headache just thinking about it...DesmoLocke wrote:Or you can play both. I enjoy playing both. It just depends on what mood I'm in.

Well, I haven't played PR yet, as I cant find a way to install .874 (They took it off the downloads page, I guess), but I can definably relate to what a lot of you guys are saying.
I play a lot of Resistance and Liberation, an HL2 mod based on simulating WWII Infantry in Normandy. Even if it is one of the most overplayed areas during WWII, this is the most fun I've had in a game. And it's only in the open Alpha stages.
Though it definably isn't as complex as this game is, you guys should definably take a look at it.
The gameplay focuses on teamwork (no teamwork=you lose the battle) and now I just scoff at most other games because of it...

No point in getting .874 at this stage anyway, get .9 either from the torrent on the downloads page or from a link in this thread: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f10-pr-general-discussion/74637-alternative-links-v0-9-preload.htmlI Faw Down wrote:Well, I haven't played PR yet, as I cant find a way to install .874 (They took it off the downloads page, I guess)

Re: PR ruined gaming for me
ive been playing vanilla BF2 for a week now and loving it (a clean windows 7 install, laziness, and .9 being right around the corner prevented me for installing any other games). All the gameplay habits PR hardcodes into you really makes the game easy. Staying prone, moving with caution, predicting which way the "rush" will flow and using the iron site as gotten me called an "aimbot faggot" (or some other reiteration of that) on more than one occasion, LOL. Ive actually lead a few squads and got my squad mates to follow orders with decent results; a little teamwork goes a long way even if it takes 5-7 shots to drop someone and 3 outta 5 of the squad is bunny hopping with a HAT kit (other 2 had the noobtube)........
Ive also been playing a lot of 2142. I bought it when it was released, played it for three days and shelved it since i was hooked on PR. Getting back into it now is fun even though i know its gonna get shelved again come friday.

"Project Reality, its trigger squeezin' good!"
