"Program too big to fit in memory"

Post by Punkbuster »

Hey guys...
I made this topic because my download for the pre release was very slow and soon it became another problem so I decided to make a topic for it.

When I open part 1 of the download I get a black DOS windows that last for less than a second and closes... it took me like 15 minutes to manage to read what was in it
and it said:"Program too big to fit in memory"
my HDD works on NTSF and I have 2 gigs of RAM with windows 7... the least RAM usage I managed to get (By closing every single unnecessary program) was 650MB out of the 2GB...
I tried raising my virtual memory to: Initial size 2048 and maximum 2048 but didnt work... Ill try raising it to 6 gigs now or 4 and see...
if this didn't work... maybe safe mode will make less RAM usage (Not sure if I can install something in safe mode, I need an answer about this)
so if you have any other solutions please give me!

P.S. Ill put what happens with me when trying whats mention above...

Your download may be corrupt (yeah I know torrents don't get corrupted but it certainly seams so)

Check out the hashes

It downloaded only 1,822,840.33 KB instead of 1,866,588,498 bytes

is there a way to fix the download without redownloading? BTW I didnt download the torrent download

There's still time to download it via torrent.

BTW I converted 1,822,840.33 KB to bytes and it gave me 1,866,588,497.92 bytes
so it is the right size but the wrong MD5 code or whatever its called
wierd

If the MD5 is wrong then the file is corrupt. If the torrent downloads at all then there's something wrong.

Also, even if the file was exactly the right size it could still be corrupted.

mmmm.... I used an online converter to convert and it gave me the right result... but the torrent is downloading and the MD5 code is very wrong...
I checked part 2 for errors and found non.... same code/size...

Same here, those part 2 show 1,673,741 KB ? did you try to convert that and see if it is 1,713,910,016 bytes?. I'd hate to start downloading again. I can only hope for the best tomorrow since my torrent speed is low.

when starting the torrent it checked for 12.9% then started downloading but I stopped it at 17% because it was slow and I started the direct download again.
