I'm an infantry junkie as well, and I find it refreshing that Infantry get raped by practically everything in the battlefield, it's one of my favourite things about PR. What I don't appreciate is being consistantly run over by unarmoured vehicles who abuse deviation's excesses to net easy kills. As long as they use terrain well, you will never get the shots you need off before they either go by or squash you.
I want bad play to get screwed by everything lot more than I want infantry to get screwed, and I still feel PR doesn't do that enough.
has infantry gotten better?

I'd more be thinking along the lines of the fact that the weakest part of the weapons system is just as inaccurate on a .50 as it is with an assault rifle at most combat ranges. Not an argument for nerfing the accuracy of the .50's, just one for raising it on assault rifles.

.50's shall be feared. also, vehicle overkill is not happening anymore since FOB's don't spawn jeeps anymore (which i sometimes find sad, we used to collect em and make epic rushez
)

i can only remember about 2 occasions in the last months when i was run over by a car, and have never seen a squad dedicated to doing it. yes id like to be able to stop cars quicker in game than we can currently, but you make it out likes its ruining the mod when it only happens a very small%age of the time.viper759 wrote:well i haven't played since .8x so i cant say for .9 . however i do remember being in several games where an entire squad hopped in jeeps (2 people per jeep ) . with the intent to run over / shoot infantry since they knew that the chance of running into a lat where minimal. typically that'd be the squad with the best k/d ratio. not to mention cars (normal civilian cars) + deviation == dead infantry.

No, those civilian jeeps were removed from Muttrah; you barely ever get run over now.viper759 wrote: getting in a car on mutrah is a good example. do people still rack up the kills by driving around and running people over?

All I can say is this is realism to the T. If you read reports from infantry in WWII it's brutal. You're walking along minding your own business and next thing you know your friends head is in your lap and fire is raining from the skies. Infantry, many times, are annihilated before they even know what hit them. Vehicles simply have so much fire power it's insane. A .50 cal mounted on the top of a jeep for example will cut a person in half.viper759 wrote:I used to play PR and liked it, but the whole uber jeeps killed / anti-armor weapons being rare killed the fun for me. did they make infantry more powerful to where vehicles (humvees, jeeps) dont own all the maps.
for an example of what i mean.
- highest ranked squad is 6 guys in 3 jeeps. 2 per, driver and a gunner each. they can just mop the other team up due to rarity of lats.
- more armor on a map than anti-tank weapons . there was a map with the brits vs the rebels ( it wasnt insurgents , i cant recall the actual name of the faction) . on that map the brits had more apcs / tanks than the rebels had lats + hats.
- on a no tank map running over infantry in a car / jeep is pretty easy due to rifles not being able to settle fast enough. getting in a car on mutrah is a good example. do people still rack up the kills by driving around and running people over?
i like PR and i think vehicles are powerful irl and therefore should be powerful in game. however infantry is powerful irl too and atleast for me its annoying when they arent in game.
I can see what you mean but it's realism. Infantry have to be cautious, and even then that's not enough.
