As an insurgent, I for one will be trying to pull off coordinated attacks on FOBs, where I'll have some of my squaddies engage FOB defenders (assuming there are any) in a long-range firefight, while 1-2 others sneak up behind them with bomb car/ied. I have seen some insurgent teams pull off this kind of distract-and-backstab strategy to great effect on seemingly unstoppable armor squads back in the day on battlearena...
I don't think people are fully appreciating how difficult FOB defense may be against a capable insurgent team
I would advise against building any FOB's as bluefor in insurgency mode. As bluefor you want to go in and out again fast and har, to get that cache. If you are in the phase where you need a firebase as a respawn, you'd probably better fall back, regroup and try again or elsewhere.
As an insurgent I LOVE when bluefor builds FOBs. Bombcars, bikes, mortars, infantry sitting in sandbags... It is an insurgency goldmine that is sure tto cost bluefor tickets, even if it is just the one guy that spawned in when you are about to destroy it.
I remeber fighting this whole-team-convoy on Karbala (

-map) one day. They would be untouchable, but now and then they built a FOB. And sure enough, everytime they moved on, at least a squad size number of bluefor would just spawn in then, or for different reasons be left behind. I assure you they didn't have a chance against the 31 superbored insurgents, even with bigger guns and open desert between us and them.
Generally: Bluefor don't build.
