I can confirm that this technique works for me. I found it out on my own as I was sort of sick of the periodic disconnects I received (and still do) every 20 to 40 minutes. Usually just hitting the ESC key every 10 minutes or so does the trick as I've never actually tried doing this the moment the connection problem occurred. Although sometimes it's easy to forget the need to press the ESC key until it becomes too late.kilroy0097 wrote:That Esc trick worked for me. Immediately when it says "Problem with your Connection" press the Esc key and go to the menu. Then come back out and suddenly it's all fixed. Rinse repeat. When you press Esc your PC sends a different kind of packet to the server or DICE Stats server. Until it sees that packet sometimes it forgets you are there for some reason. I have no idea why.
Not sure what the issue is truly, I can stay online with just about any other game indefinitely with the exception of BF2. If you ask me it's just another reason why BF2 just flat out sucks (Thank god for PR right?)

switching off EAX in Audio settings did the trick for me

The problem for me is definitely VoiP. When i turn it off, it works. My problem is that when i join a pretty full game, after it loads, it disconnects. When i turned voip off it worked fine.
This is definitely a .7 issue too because this NEVER happened before and i've been playing PR since the beginning.

No it's not directly 0.7 issue. When server gets more populated the VOIP traffic gets more delayed and thus recognized as DoS attack by some routers/firewalls. 0.7 can be more demanding for servers, but that's not the actual problem. It happens also in vBF2.
I switched off my router firewall and no "there is a problem with your connection" whatsoever since (after map loading but other connection problems are whole other issue).

What other firewalls are you using in place? Switching off a router firewall seems pretty serious IMO.fubar++ wrote:No it's not directly 0.7 issue. And for me, this never happened EVER before .7 and I've been playing bf2 (and pr) since the beginning. Just the facts in my case. Thanks though.

Re: Your Connection To The Server Has Been Lost
I know someone that has fixed their constant disconnects by completely reinstalling PR.

Re: Your Connection To The Server Has Been Lost
I'm using Avast and Windows firewall and no problem with that. Reason for switching off whole firewall was that I'm using shared connection and the router isn't mine. Maybe there is a way to open some ports or some other configuration, it should depend on your router.pvt.nouri wrote:What other firewalls are you using in place? Of course there can be other reasons for disconnection problems, but the problem described before is definitely caused by VoIP and firewall interaction. It doesn't occur on all game servers because some server configurations use separate VoIP server and therefore main server strain doesn't interfere VoIP traffic.pvt.nouri wrote:And for me, this never happened EVER before .7 and I've been playing bf2 (and pr) since the beginning. I believe its happening to most PR players... PR server connection seems to be having problems since 0.7 in my opinion.

Re: Your Connection To The Server Has Been Lost
I have the same problem , i tried to reinstall pb and update it , nothing worked ...
I have to add that my isp doesn't give me a public ip , i 'm behind a NAT , but i can play bf2 without any problem , so the problem should be with project reality.

Re: Your Connection To The Server Has Been Lost
Had this problem for ages until I found some viruses on my computer. as soon as they were gone, never got connection issues again.
Heres a good place to start
go here:
FREE ANTIVIRUS online: ActiveScan 2.0 - PANDA SECURITY
Its a free online scan done by Panda antivirus. Its picks up everything, but being free it will only disinfect virus's, but at least it does thoughs. its as good as scanning your hard drive with another persons PC in my opinion, unless you got something real nasty. Scan, let it finish, and then get back to me with your result. worked for me anyway

Re: Your Connection To The Server Has Been Lost
I've still got the same darn problem!
It doesn't only happen in PR, it's in the whole Battlefield 2 series, including all the mods!
I've got an lynksis router,
And it has all the ports open + the firewall is off.
Also i've completely shut down my anti-virus on my PC, including my Windows firewall + McAffee firewall.
Also disabled VOIP+AEX. I've also turned down my settings..
I also did the cache empty trick + the control - alt - delete trick.
I've re-installed my bf2 + pr like a 100 times.
And this all happends as soon as the "Squad Assigment" button shows up after loading.
I'm going nuts with this! I can't play with my clanmate's with this!
If anyone knows the problem to this,
Please response!
Thanks in advance,
=WST= Hoteldebotel
PS: Sometimes i can just play for 2 hours straight. And then i suddenly get kicked with the error.
It happends 90% of the time when i join a server. In Vanilla or PR or FH2.. The whole deal..

Re: Your Connection To The Server Has Been Lost
In PR 0.87, Server Connection Lost has been vastly INCREASED.
Maybe a serve or client instability with .87 or bf2 1.5?

Re: Your Connection To The Server Has Been Lost
I have been playing PR 0.874 for a while now.
It used to be without any issues. It worked for about 2 weeks and then I got the "There is a problem with your connection" every 2nd minute I am in a server.
It really annoys me. I tried to turn off AEX, VOIP, shutting down Windows services & more of stated possible fixes. I am currently scanning the PC to check for any virusses or anything like it.
I am running a new PC with Windows 7 (64-bit)... It's starting to piss me off.
(Singleplayers and co-op are running without problems!)

Re: Your Connection To The Server Has Been Lost
in my own opinion connection problem is caused by firewall (your or provider's) and its not about pr, its about bf2142 too
i've wasted my nerves half a year ago with this problem... provider' support wasted about 3 hours monitoring my traffic, but bug is not timed one, so they catched nothing... solution was to change ISP, now it works just perfectly.
mind it can be ur own firewall
