[0909] massive FPS drops

Post by seph567 »

Hi there.

I have issues with really bad FPS drops since 0.9. this happened on lashkar valley to me. usualy I got around 100 fps, but when looking at the center of the map I got fps drops to 15fps and the game becomes unplayable. many people on the server complained about the same thing + fps drops on other new maps, especially with british forces.

AMD phenom IIx4 3,2gig
4 gig RAM
2x Radeon HD4770 xfire
XP prof. 32bit

settings on high with 1280x1024@70hz with AA 4x

should acutualy work fine with the system...

Same sorta deal with me, I got on my clans server and the map switched to Yamalia, I was fucking excited, but when I got on the ground after parachuting, I was laggy as hell.

I'm pretty sure you can play with lower video settings...

I'm not an expert on what has the biggest impact but I'm sure someone can enlighten us.

i could play the last version on all medium. I can longer play the newer maps with on all low with more than 20 fps.

Yes, i had the same, but it got a little better after reinstalling entire PR.

u don't need previous versions of PR installed anymore, just BF 1.5patch, so i took a look on my add and remove thing and i saw that older versions are still installed...so i uninstall them and install now only the 0.9
...this helped a bit.
But yes, new maps lag a lot more as i noticed

But what exactly is causing it? Most people that are reporting it have quite good systems. What kind of computer are you supposed to have in order to play a map like Lashkar? What is the main reason behind the ridiculous FPS-drop? I used to play every 0.87-map without problems, with all settings maxed out. Lashkar lags like hell even on the lowest settings (in an empty local server)!

How is this possible? I do not notice THAT much of a difference in visual quality since the last release.

Dragonfly has some insane lag, + all the grass on Yamalia kills my FPS, and Honestly I would rather not play than turn down to all low...

I´ve made a thread exactly about this as linked above, sadly tho it was moved for some (unknowed) reason to tech so noone will ever read it again...

And lowering your settings does not solve the problem

There is something wrong with the code. Even when I am getting 30+ frames it'll get a memory error crash. I can't even disconnect from a game without it crashing.

Turning PnkBstrB off helps as well....at least against those heartbeats stopped messages.

To do that go to Run/services.msc , find PnkBstrB, right click on it and press stop...

Lowering the settings won't help. Experiencing lots of stuttering and low FPS even with everything set to low and draw distance at 50. Even though I can barely see what the blobs on the screen are supposed to represent with these settings, I can't play because of low FPS. And this from a computer that can handle games like Crysis and Empire: Total War without any problems...

Is 0.9 rendering objects at a greater distance than previous versions? I have previous experiences from other games where things like that have caused problems. What can I do about it?

I really have no idea about what's happening.

From the various posts that I've read, it sounds like the grass could possibly be the culprit that's causing the low FPS and various BSOD/Memory Dumps.

I'm getting this one too among with a few other problems. 0.9 is realy developing into a love/hate relationship. I love the features :D , but I hate the bugs  . The new maps will be excellent if (and when) they get them working.

Replicate- join a map lashkar , fallujah or gaza.
Type in " renderer.drawfps 1 " in console
SLOWLY spin 360 degrees and observe the FPS dancing as youre facing in different directions

Clan mate having same.

Most new maps i cant even play, i tryed a new map with IDF and HAMAS and unless i was in the sidewalk, it was really choppy char animation while running.

Tryed this on my bros pc, GTX 280, 4GB DDR3, AMD X2 3core (or wateva its called, pretty good, about 3 months old), and still was laggy as sh1t, and he can play most games on ultra high settings.

Please check out wtf is wrong and send us a hotfix, we really love PR, its not like something we can just *ignore* and *move on*.

PS: love the new features =)

Many maps have great FPS drops. And dont say to minimize video configuration if you dont know. My video configuration was about medium on 0.87 and on 0.9 I have lag on minimum configuration, even with view distance 50! My pc conf: 2.8 GHz; N Vidia G-force 8400 GS 256Mb memory; 2Gb Ram. I dont think that is my pc problem of lag, it is bad configured maps or osed another configuration method in comparison with 0.87 mod. I think a lot of time have to pass to fix 0.9patch to have good gameplay. For me now I would want 0.87 come back till 0.9 fixed.
