I sometimes have this problem and many of my clanmates too. No one of us have that patch.Malchuth wrote:I have theory.
Did anybody else of u crashers install the memory-patch fror BF2 at the old version of PR?
There might be a conflict, because PR0.9 actually tries to solve the memory problem.
Is this coincidence or can u guys confirm that you've used that patch?

Re: CTD v0.9 when loading
Is there a way to do this without lowering the settings? :/

Well... this is not a OS-dependent problem.

Having the exact same problem! No error message at all, just a CTD. Very weird.

BF2 Memory Error and C2D with 0.9
...have only problems with the new PR version.
BF2 Memory Error and C2D´s

I wantet to have a look on all new maps via local server. Sometimes the new maps runs but mostly i´m getting a ctd while loading or the memory error after loading the map. With the previous versions i had never such problems.
My system: ESL: [pt] V-Nessa - Player - Germany - ESL - Die eSport-Liga
Ingame settings:
All High but AA off

Same for me. Both in FH2 and PR.DonDOOM wrote:The CTD occurs both on FH2 and PR, so it's probably a BF2 error with Win7 for me.
Compatability / Administrator doesn't help.

And just like you I can play coop without problem. This CTD-issue is limited to internet servers... Don't even reach the loading screen - it crashes just when I click on the server name.

Re: CTD when deploying 0.9
I haven't fired up mine yet but try some of these:
If you still have trouble run battlefield cleaner to flush out your video cache files
Still no joy?
Trash your BF2 cache files
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.
don't worry the files will be replaced with new ones when the game restarts.
Still CTD?
Make a new user and try to join a server.
Don't worry about your settings yet, battlefield cleaner can transfer old
settings to the new one later
OK
Some other things you can try before you uninstall/reinstall.
Backup your BF2 folder that's inside your documents folder. Once you have a backup delete the original from your documents folder.
Try starting PR from your PR shortcut
a new default folder is created
link to your online account.
If all goes well (CTD gone) all you have to do to get your custom settings back is copy your 'control' file from your backup to the new profile folder.
path:
C:\Users\your user name here\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002
note: you may not have a 0002 folder so use 0001
I thought I read W7 users didn't need or shouldn't use the XP compatibility mode.

all the posts here sounds not like a problem at the players, what say the devs?

Re: CTD, BF2 not enough memory
There was a patch a while ago because BF2 didnt allow PR to use all the RAM available (only 1 or 2 Gigs or something like that). But anyway, did anyone try this?STORM-Mama wrote:What "memory-patch"?

Perhaps there's a way to allow PR somehow more RAM usage than it's now.
PS: Thx for the advice thepalerider, I tried Battlefieldcleaner. Lets see if it helps..

The crashing after loading two consecutive games is back too, played a round and then it ends and loads another and just freezes or crashes every time. Done it 3 times now.

Re: 0.9 Crashing to desktop
This is exactly what mine does. Except one time where i joined a game but it ended almost immediatly after i got there (maybe 30 seconds) and when they loaded another map i was fine. But three other times when i joina game and then the server loads new map after game is finished i crash. Also got a memory error once. I also hasd a ctd that said something about ati driver failed and my screen was all weird colors. but i restarted and it was fine. It weird that so many people are getting this problem. hopefully devs will come up with a solutionLan wrote:The crashing after loading two consecutive games is back too, played a round and then it ends and loads another and just freezes or crashes every time. Re: 0.9 Crashing to desktop
XP Home edition service pack 3
CPU Intel core 2 6700 2.66GHz and 2GB RAM
So far what I'm experiencing is only on Create Local on Multiplayer. I was checking out the maps.
I get CTD while loading Fallujah West. And Memory alloc thing after loading Dragon Fly or CTD while loading Dragon Fly. I haven't tried ALL map in this version, but I can load few others I tried without problem in Create Local. Also Al Basrah seems to be much more unstable at Join Server moment compared to previous version.
Honestly, I'm too afraid to go try Online. Thinking if I am to discover I can't join any server with this problems, after 6 hours of DLing.

I really don't think its something to do with my Computer capability. I never had this problem before and as I said some new map runs fine.
Edit: Iron Ridge gets memory alloc problem. Happens in earlier stage of loading.

Just woundering, why would a map work but then when server is done with it and loads a new one, it crashes? I don't understand why?

Re: 0.9 Crashing to desktop
Who does??? Maybe it's time for the devs to take a look in this section now, cause it seems many are having alot of difficulties with both FH2 and PR includingme.XxxGrANdmA wrote:Just woundering, why would a map work but then when server is done with it and loads a new one, it crashes? It should have nothing o do with our hardware if other games works perfectly. I think its a bug with some machines that peoples have. There's probably a memory bug.
So frustrating feeling when the only thing I've looked forward to is to play PR this friday.
