you dont need mumble to play but it is highly encuraged and makes the game much much funner.

Anyway...

HOW TO GET INTO MUMBLE FOR ALL THE NEWBIES

1. Start Mumble with desktop icon ("PR Mumble")

2. Press "Configure" select "Audio Wizard"

3. Follow the on screen instructions to configure your audio settings

4. When complete Press "Configure" and select "Settings"

5. Click the "User Interface" Tab and check the box "Expert Config" then click "Apply"

6. Click the "Audio Output" Tab and be sure you have the following, then click "Apply"

Volume -> 60%
Other Applications -> 100%
Bloom -> 150%

(These should be default)

7. Click the "Shortcuts" Tab, edit the Shortcut for "Local Speech" to be the button that will talk to people near you. (I use middle mouse; it doesn't matter what you use as long as its not already assigned to something else in game)

8. Click "Add". In this new box under select "Squad Leader Radio" for function and select a shortcut button for it (just like you did above). This button is less common then "Local Speech" and is used to talk to other squad leaders in a server. (I use "\" for this)

9. Click "Apply" and close the Mumble Configuration window.

10. Press "Server" and select "Connect" in the top menu. You should see the Project Reality Official Mumble server. Type a name in for "Username" and click "New" this is the only server you will need to connect to.

11. Click "Connect" and Click a channel in the server applicable to the server you wish to play in once inside PR.

12. In the channel you may also have to join the sub channel for the proper team (Depending on server) or the squad leader channel for your team if you wish to squad lead. Often times admins will do this step for you if you ask...

Enjoy :D

ps If anyone sees any mistakes in here let me know and I'll edit the post.

lol k - basically when you click and connect to mumble, you join the main PR "room" where you will be muted. All the main PR servers are listed in the room. If you play on a server, then double click its name, and you will then be in that servers "room". Mumble does not put you in the server room automatically - you need to do this yourself. At this point you may hear all 64 people until you enter the game, and if you talk, they will all hear you - therefore don't press the VOIP key, and maybe turn off your sound until you actually spawn in. Once you've spawned in, use the local chat key near someone else with mumble, and then I'm sure you'll start to understand what its all about. If you still need help, x-fire me.

Will do BTW how can I tell a server has mumble lets say I join on PR then go to mumble and look for the server? Or is there a icon in the server selction list (Pr 0.9 not mumble) that I know has one

What I do is check the mumble server list first, see who has more players, join the waiting room, then Alt+Tab back to PR and join said server (if it's not full of course).

Then once I'm in-game, I do a quick scan of the squad leaders on mumble, then compare to the teams list, and join the right side on mumble. Lastly, I'll do a mic check and say "CHECK ONE TWO, ONE TWO, ONE TWO, fuck Karate, Fred pratices GUN-FU", and then wait for someone to say "Check" :p

The two main users of mumble are TG and RT, this is what i do:

1. start mumble
2. check mumble for users in channels (as i said, normally users in TG and RT)
3. see that users are in TG or RT and join channel
4. turn headset off (you hear everyone out of game)
5. start PR and join server
6. turn headset back on and play as normal with the added comfort of being able to talk to most random blue guys.
7. ???
8. PROFIT

Not every server has a mumble channel. It can get confusing, but you have to try and match up the server's name to the mumble channel name.

I have a problem with mumble beta 0.5 for pr, I have every thing set up and you can hear me while pr is not pulled up and in the lobby, but when i bring up pr to play no one can hear me even if i am next to them. i have my mic set up correctly but no one can hear me while I'm in game. Does anyone have an idea of what is wrong and how to fix it.

Likely not. Your input device is your soundcard, if I'm not mistaken.

Brenden. I would guess you are not hitting your mic key?? My mic key randomly changed on me somehow to "H" pissed me off to have everyone ignore me. ;)
