v0.9 is amazing, except...

Post by NoxNoctum »

The performance drop is HUGE. I went from getting 70-90 consistently to 20-30 most of the time... What happened?

same. i can't play fallujah anymore, cause i get like 10-15 fps. used to get 25-40. most people in chicago hardcore had similar performance drops.
i'm thinking it might be the long drawing kit geometry or the smoke effects that are doing it?

wasn't on all maps, though, since i played silent eagle fine. some memory hole exclusive for urban maps?

Yeah I just got an ATI 5770 HD 1g and it won't run it for long. Going to have to drop another couple hundred on top of that one to get a decent card that will work.

Dont forget to set your AA x8 an the AF x16. I know it sounds wierd, but the game becomes easier to run in the comptuers.

I've always run that, but I get huge fps-drops (100 -> 25) on Beirut and Yamalia with 4780x2.
I think improving so much in graphics have the BF2 engine struggling abit, will just lower settings abit now and try again.

I have a feeling it has to do something with the new Abrams and the new LODs.

Hey, I've seen this all over the place, but I've never tried it 'cause it sounds counter-intuitive to set my AA on 8x to make it run better! Is this what you guys do, even on lower end cards? I don't know how low-end my card is, it's an ATI 2600 HD PRO with 512 MB.

I dunno man I have the same card as you and I get good performance on all maps. What your CPU?

I just had time to hop in and play my first few rounds

X1950gt 512MB Ram
3 gigs of Ram
Pentium D 820, dual core 2.8Ghz

I get really bad performance (around 15-20fps) when I'm even on all LOW settings, noticed on Lashkar mostly when I look towards middle of map. I look towards outside and it gets better, but looking inside map is pretty bad.

Silent Eagle was significantly better outside the city, but once I get to the center city performance is really low, same thing, 15-20FPS. :(

My specs:
GeForce 8600 GT 512MB Ram
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz
4 gb ram

Running in 1440x900, all high, no AA.

I played op. barracuda and asad khal with no noticeable FPS changes. Out of the new maps, Yamalia, Ochamchira, Beirut and Gaza all ran well. Only map I had a noticeably low FPS on was lashkar valley, and it was still very playable.

Yep, game might be great but it runs like absolute ***!

specs:

AMD 4200
2gb 3200 Ram
ATI 4850 512mb
Win 7

The huge forest map (yemlia or something) kind of played fine, but constantly had that horrible chokey lag, like you and other players kept skipping. It was like the old 56k days.

A couple of others were pretty much the same, every movement always had a jolt or something. Cant imagine what combat will be like. Hope it's a simple explanation.

Im running medium, with lighting and shadows off

I have the same. I played Fallujah, a bit of beiroet and americans versus russians in the dusk setting and Yamalia. Fallujah was playable but noticed frame drops on certain parts while Yamalia was almost unplayable when I zoomed in with a weapon :P

Oh, come on. You Dev's can't get bad performance like the rest of us. You don't play the game through PC's or anything like that. You're game characters not people, system specs don't affect digital entities ;-)

Just kidding, it's nice to see that you're just one of us :)
