Lag/CTD/Memory Errors

Post by Ferris Bueller »

Specs:
Win7 32
Dual 8800GTX
E8400 @3GHz
4GB Ram

-All previous versions of PR uninstalled.
-PR running as administrator
-Secondary programs: mumble, teamspeak

Alright, so heres the odd combination of problems I've been having:
Intermittently, with no apparent cause or relation, I get random CTDs with no error message at various points in the game. all of the CTDs happen while actively playing, at random times (sometimes I can play for 2 minutes and it will happen, sometimes i can play for an hour and a half before i get hit).

other times I get the dreaded memory allocation error (even after following the fix located here: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ost1258079). again, timing is random.

yet still there are times when the game lags to an extent that it becomes completely unplayable (less than 1FPS). this happens at random times and in random locations, frequently in places that I have been several times during the course of a round. i'll be moving somewhere, begin turning and all of a sudden my FPS drops to 0 and any movement I make takes up to 30 seconds to register. this usually lasts for 3 to 4 minutes and then the game resumes as normal for a while before happening again.

now, as I said, I've used the fix indicated above for the memory.dll error. no dice. I have 8gb of vram running through windows as well as my physical 4gb. I've tried complete formats and reinstalls of windows, bf2, patches and PR. problems are persistent throughout. I have also checked the fans and cooling systems on my rig. all fine. my GPU and CPU temps are always way below anything to be remotely concerned about. drivers are all up to date. windows updates are installed and checked.

so i'm out of gas as far as a solution. if anyone has any suggestions, i'm completely open to it.
