Why can't we just choose if we want ironsight, a lens or the red dot?

Like, I'd rather have the medic iron sight before that red dot, IMO.. What's the big deal of not letting people choose?

It's like the HAT and LAV kit... I end up taking the HAT kit because it feature a red dot ironsight, but I'd rather have the LAV kit with the red dot ironsight, in fact I'd rather have the medic ironsight with the lav... what's the big deal about not letting people choose that?
I know it's a request kit in that example, but what about shrinking the officer kit to 1 slot and the infantry to 1 slot as well in the main kit selection menu, we could add some request kit in that main menu and make people choose their scope!

I doubt it very much that the army would force you to mount a reddot irongsight if you do not want to..

You know in bf2, you get to choose your gun, but would it be so hard to put the same gun in the rotation but letting people choose their ironsight?

I really want some developers toughs on that, and, I know it's sound like a suggestion in disguise like you said, but I'd rather have an answer from some developer before closing it, thx

You can choose, Scoped or non-scoped variants of pretty much every weapon. You now have far more choice than in any previous version with a big increase in the number of weapons with iron sight variants.

The reason that you cannot choose from three different options is because when selecting kits you do use LMB/RMB, there is no available third option. Also the vast majority of factions only have two versions anyway, it is only the US Army and USMC that have 3 variants and the weapon selection system is not about to be re-coded just to satisfy those two factions.

Also from what im told, the vast vast vast majority of soldiers IRL in the US Armed Forces use one kind of scope or other whether it be Acog or Aimpoint, very few actually ever use straight ironsights so it wouldn't even be realistic to have large numbers of them.

I don't believe the physics of the game would allow for that. You'd essentially have to make separate classes in order to accommodate that.

Remember in BF2, you could choose from 3-4 different guns in the kit selection menu for the same role? Well, just put 3 different guns, 1 with lens, 1 with irongsight, 1 with redot.

And you say I can choose a LAV kit with ironsight or redot?

This will probably be locked as a suggestion by an over-zealous admin, BUT...

I understand what you're talking about, but it has a lot to do with balance, I'm sure. Not to mention the fact that most modern armies have developed standard optics [magnified or otherwise] to replace a rifle's stock sights.

the unlock function cannot really be used, as far as I know, because it relies on players having played original BF2 in order to get those unlocks before they can be cycled through in PR.

I think, maybe a Mod got around this, but Im not sure who or how.

Basically, as far as I can say, its down to limits. We can only have so many weapon slots to choose from, and we can only really have so many kits to request from the kit request at bases.

And as others said, you get the choice or right click or left click, unfortunately only two choices, so its limited to that too.

Try spawning as a rifleman, and choosing the medic kit with either right or left click from the request screen menu, Im not sure which it gives you or if its only one choice... maybe someone else knows.

Sandbox has a pretty complex system in pace. Would probably be codeable.

It'd certainly be possible to have all three options for all kits, but not without increasing the size of the kit request menu and re-working the spawn menu completely. Bit much work and a more cluttered comm rose for relatively little gain, I think that's the problem.

Servers can enable use all unlocks it seems as I have played on some that do and I definately don´t have them all.

When requesting most kits (officer, gren, lat , SAW , marksman and probably more) left click spawns the kit with a Scope, right with irons/red dot.
