Kashan AAS on TacticalGamer's server at about 22:00 PRT 2/9/10
Squad I was in had built FOB, AA, AT, etc in hills north of S village(D6kp2). After remaining in area and defending for over 30 min we began to be killed(entire sqd) apparently by bugged map(maybe).
People closest to the top of the ridge would be killed first(straight to "dead" screen) and then people lower. Then some assets would blow up.
We respawned. Same thing happens again a few minutes later. Then again after another round of respawns. All deaths came within a few seconds of the first.
This was definitely not from enemy fire. Sorry I can't provide anymore details.

Re: [0909] Mystery death
I might add that I too had a "mystery death" today. But it wasn't the same as this one.
I was playing Al Bashra as insurgent, and then I suddenly died and a text came up in the left lower corner saying "You were KILLED for helping the Insurgency" - Aren't Insurgents supposed to support Insurgency? :S

It was an Apache far away using its chain gun killing you guys. After a few hundred meters the effects go away but the projectile remains thus killing you with no effect and destroying assets.
I was killed by it too so I know.

Think it happens with almost all weapons, when they are shot almost over the view distance. When the projectile goes further than shootters view the projectile goes "invisible" and all explosion and sound effects won't happen after impact, only damage effects.

Re: [0909] Mystery death
I also had a mystery death on Beirut. I was crouching in the corner of a building with a receding section with a few SM's when one of them ran into me and I died instantly. It happened on Texas Team Players server. I'm not sure what building or where it was on the map, but Cpl.Blakeman was there to witness it. I didn't get wounded or anything, just instant black screen of death. This happened after I was already in game for 20 minutes and hadn't respawned in over 10 mins.

OK. Makes sense. Thanks for the response.
It is puzzling to see players suddenly dying without hearing any type of incoming fire.
Now that I know we were being targeted from long range I realize we should have found cover instead of saying "wtf" and returning to vulnerable positions like the AA and AT.

Re: [0909] Mystery death
I'll go ahead and cop to this one. I was the spotter who was tagging you guy for the Apache. My compatriots were flying the helicopter. At first I was advancing on you guys from the north, dropping attack markers as you were trying to pot-shot me. After a few runs of this, and after losing / regaining that sniper kit about 3 times
I took a Supply truck and circled around to the Mountain east of South Village, where I targeted you from behind. What's strange is that I was able to clearly see and hear the explosions from the chaingun rounds as they hit, which is what enabled us to so accurately concentrate our fire.
