[0909] pr.exe(?) messes up my controls

[0909] pr.exe(?) messes up my controls

I started to wonder why I no longer can't create squad by pressing INS, which I had mapped to that function a long time ago. It came out, that every time I start PR the following line is removed from my controls.con:

Code: Select all

ControlMap.addKeyToTriggerMapping c_GICreateSquad IDFKeyboard IDKey_Insert 10000 0
(belongs to section ControlMap.create defaultGameControlMap)

If start vBF2 with the same profile, controls.con will stay intact. There is no GUI for adding this mapping in controls options in PR and adding the line manually won't help as it gets removed as soon as I start pr.exe.

'twas removed to help solve one of the factors causing the squad bug, lessen the chance of it happening. It still happens sure, but it should happen less.

I play a lot on Chicago Hardcore server where they don't have any pre-game timer rules for creating squads and it's very common to see squads being made as soon as it's technically possible. Still that server does not seem to have squad bugs any more often than servers which have 1:30 rule or similar (on which I have played a lot too).

Thankfully this mapping removal is only a slight annoyance for me as I can re-create it via console, using G15 keyboard's cabapility to map text blocks to a single G-key ;)

try to make file read only, go right click, properties...

No effect. And making it read-only by modifying security permissions will prevent pr.exe from running at all.

Another work-around could be killing pr.exe after game has started and using bf2.exe to start PR subsequently, but this method makes it hard to run other mods, including vanilla.
