PR / BF2 Problem - Can't rebind keys

Hello and first off let me thank you for any input you may have to offer.

I just recently bought a new Thrustmaster T.16000 which I was hoping to use to fly logistics helicopters and such in PR. Upon plugging in my new joystick I went to see if I could use the second key bind slots to bind my joystick to but I have found out whenever I click on one of the key windows whether it is one of the original binds or one of the empty ones it just automatically makes it "Joy Button 0" and moves my cursor back to the center of the screen. I don't believe this is a problem with my joystick as it works fantastically in Flight Simulator and Hawx but I can't rebind keys in Battlefield 2 or Project Reality. I have tried bloody everything, I've uninstalled and redownloaded it from steam, I've uninstalled BF2 and PR and reinstalled it with my old disks at v1.0.2442.0 and even without that new cobra or python(whatever) jazz I'm still having the same bloody problem.

what i think whats happening is that your joystick is sending input although it shouldnt - bf2 then detects the first best input it gets and uses it to bind the key

you will have to configure your joystick in windows first
then in bf2 make sure its 100% stable, not moving, find the dead spot then carefully press the button you want to assign (without moving the stick ofc)

I just recalibrated my joystick and it didn't work, then I unplugged my joystick and It's still giving me the input when I try and bind keys.

unplug all other gaming adapters you might have

else i am out of ideas
