GPUz and EVGA Precision

Post by Dreadnought1984 »

How reliable are these tools? They are giving me some really weird info.

In Gaza Beach:

They both claim that when I'm in the middle of the city and bottomed out at 15.0 FPS I'm only using 15%-25% of my GPU! However when I'm in Israeli main staring into the hills I get 80 FPS with 95% GPU usage. Then, without moving an inch, I turn toward the city while still in main, and my FPS goes down to 33 and my usage goes down to 25%.
Everything was using ~65%-75% CPU.

Could it be that terrain was using my full GPU (16 cores) and that buildings were only attempting to use 1 or 4?

System Specifications

Most GPU tools are not that reliable seeing as a GPU isn't set up to record what its doing all the time and tell the user. They generally run full blast to render a frame then do the next etc.

But your data does seem to be heading somewhere in what may be causing the lagg..

It would make sense if the current lag is memory related as we suspect. If the memory isnt able to feed the GPU with enought data it would make sense with low framerate and a GPU only working on low capacity.

Both these tools accurately show 99% usage on other games. The GPU just isn't working as hard in object intensive areas.

I've watched BF2 use more memory in .9 with medium low settings than high settings in .8

First time I got a memory error too, I suspect something is causing a memory issue/leak and thats where peoples issues are coming from...

yea my gpu stays cool in gaza where I have fps issues
like it is not used for its full capacity
maps like yamalia with lots of grass it heats up, but fps is ok

Didn't they make a tweak fix in 0.87? I remember getting a really big FPS boost from a recent patch. Hope they do the same again, would love it.

As everyone has said its probably a bad texture with some of the statics. Thats make the RAM go sky high.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.
