[909] Q: No more binos/GLTD to request area attack?
Maybe I am just to thick to understand the 0.9 manual but it appears that the SL can no longer utilize his binos/GLTD to request an area attack? Somehow I am unable to use the SL radio and the binos/GLTD with the support rose interface at the same time? Help =)

you need to make a marker so you can know the distance and then use the radio to set contact distace and then call in area attack. i think. i do it all the time

Its a bit silly really, because with the lack of zoom on the radio function you cannot get the area attack right on - even the slightest mouse movement can throw it right off.
Example: this JDAM was supposed to hit exactly inside the village when I called it in, but unfortunately since I couldn't get it right on it hit the northern end.

just get out binoc or GLTD
point at what you want removed from your view
get out radio, do not move view
area attack
not hard

Also, tell your commander not to just accept your first request, tell him your going to perfect the target, then he can approve it.

Yeah, they should have just left it like it was.

Is it the same operation(except with cellphones in stead of radios) for the civilian collaborator? Does the civilian collaborator have to be a squad leader to call it in?ludwag wrote:you need to make a marker so you can know the distance and then use the radio to set contact distace and then call in area attack. i think. i do it all the time

More often than not, unless its a commander you trust, theyl just accept it as soon as it comes up.Tim270 wrote:Also, tell your commander not to just accept your first request, tell him your going to perfect the target, then he can approve it.
