My .9 lag issues fixed

Post by SnipeHunt »

I was one of the people that had reeeealy bad lag in .9 right from the start. ,87 was near perfect. .9 near unplayable. With FPS sitting at 15 for most of the time trying to play

Here was what I did that made it work for me.
uninstalled .9 in add/remove programs list.
also uninstalled .85, .874, holiday map pack because all were still in there.
redownloaded .9
when I went to open the application file the c:/temp folder would stop responding. So I chose to run it from the task manager window. The install started right away and went smoothly. I upped all my settings to High like they were in .87 and I am doing great. I think I saw the lowest FPS drop was about 45-50, often fps was around 80-99.

Good luck. See you on the battlefield (hopefully not doing the moonwalk!)

perhaps some peoples problems may spawn for having forgotten to fully uninstall all traces of previous versions of PR

In the release-post they said the following:
Please note that due to the size of the mod, we have split the download into two separate parts, "Part 1 of 2" and "Part 2 of 2". You will need to download and install both in order to play PR v0.9. The installer will remove any previous versions of Project Reality automatically.
Thats why many people did not uninstall the old version. Maybe the Devs were wrong (can't happen, can it? :D ) or the reinstallation of PR in the OP solved the problem in a different way.

No difference if you redownload it.

Can't see any possible way it would be different without being corrupted in the first place, in which case it shouldn't install anyway.

Doing what the OP did would clean out your graphics cache, that's probably what did it for him. For anyone else make sure you try running the bf2cleaner...

Download Battlefield Cleaner v2.1 (2.1)

I did this the first time I installed 0.9. I uninstalled PR and removed the PR folder from the \mods folder.
I've also removed the cache. Still bad performance, so it doesn't work for everyone.

Yeah. It seems to work for me. I also turned my sound down to medium until i can figure out how to get my XFI card to fit in my pc.... (my 1x pcie slot is covered by my gfx card. =/ and the other PCIe (i don't know how big) are just barely far/close enough that it gets in the way of the "hook" that holds it stable on the outside. =/

This comment belongs in the "You know you have played too much PR when..."

That shows how hardcore you are that you reformat your system just to get PR working better!

had all the problems mentioned for the first weekend of release.
uninstalled 0.909,uninstalled 0.874 from programs (.9 didn't uninstall it) ran Bf2 cleaner, updated GPU drivers, settings to medium (dynamic shadows to low) AAx4. works good now with fps rarely going below 60 odd fps.

and I thought I was the only one experiencing massive lag :) I think it might be the new maps and all their detail. The game seems to load slower for me as I never can get into the trans helo squad fast enough now. Gonna try the cleaner.
