CTD after map switch

Post by karambaitos »

Right then my game CTDs every time a map switches, now before anyone says put your textures to medium, I know that, but I really dont want to do it because everything looks like ****.
I tried using the memory32.dll fix
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f358-s ... users.html
but when ever i get to the part where i have to write
editbin.exe /LARGEADDRESSAWARE BF2.exe
I get this
'editbin.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Now a while ago I saw a video on youtube where i guy wrote editbin.exe /LARGEADDRESSAWARE BF2.exe in a different order and that worked, but i cant seem to find it again can some one help me how the code should be correctly written.

Thank you.

actually its to turn down "lighting" to "medium" for the memory.dll error

your fix is deprecated as of bf2 1.5 was compiled using Large address awareness - running that on bf2.exe will result in punkbuster kicking your for md5mismatch of bf2.exe (as this guy already tried it: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ost1266792)

if you don't get the memory.dll error you should not do the old fixes for it ;)

system specs please

things you can try anyways:
run pr in administrator mode
turn down vistas visual effects to free some ram
update your gfx drivers
increase the page file size

oh and it would be helpful to (temporarily) turn down the gfx settings for testing purposes for clearification

They didnt fix it EA/DICE never fix anything, well they fix one thing a ruin ten others :)
also if the memory fix is put in the patch why do I crash from memory.dll
I did it once and it worked for 1.5, but then vista the great OS that it is destroyed it self after an update and i lost the fixed BF2.exe
and now that thing above happens (1st post).

1. I always do
2. Done long time ago visual effects in windows are useless
3. Did, same thing
4. I made a huge page file same thing happened

also MD5 mismatch happens for me every so often and not on every server if it does i restart PR and I dont get it again for that server until I turn the computer off
in any matter its much less annoying than CTD.

you specs look ok, with visuals down vista should run at ~1GB, pr eats up 1.5-2GB so your ram usage should be around 3GB which is fine, since you increased the page file I do believe you problem is more grave than expected

this is maybe what you have been looking for?

just to make sure: check your ram for defects with memtest.exe

No offense, but please read next time I wrote that in the first post

Anyhow, I found the correct way to do PR Support - Project Reality Forums (for me)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3abqvDl ... rofilepage

I had to write editbin BF2.exe /LARGEADRESSAWARE
instead of editbin /LARGEADRESSAWARE BF2.exe
