Medic self heal?

So anyone want to explain to me why the medic has to be looking all the way up or down to heal themselves? It just seems kind of silly and unneeded.

And I have a friend who I tried to get into PR and it bugs the hell out of him...hes weird like that

its to make it unconfortorable to get shot (atleast i think it is) if you get shot, you have to look at a weird angle, making you an open target, this way you can not watch a corner or anything while healing yourself=P

it's because the medic bag only heals in a small cone in front of you. when you look down or up you hit your own body with this cone. originally it was a bug that was noticed and used by the better players, but it made it's way into normal gameplay and worked quite well.

So why does it work when he looks up? Is he healing the tip of his hair?

I suppose looking up when prone heals you because the camera is located at the chest and not the head?

My experience is that it doesn't heal you when you're prone, only if you're standing. Crouching may work, but I've had many occasions that didn't do the trick.

Jesus the realism nazi's are out in force this week... The self heal works well and has become part of the gameplay stop trying to spoil things that already work fine.

When prone look straight up I believe this is the same for crouching.

yeah it is a bug and yes you are healing like a tip of you hit box which could well be his ear
and yeah prone and look up or stand and look down

I think its perfect, when you heal yourself you are looking down and not paying attention to whats happening around you, just like it should be.

whats this gotta do with realism?? its just a little confusing for the new medics around (hell even i get nervous when i get shot as a medic)

Does that mean that originally the idea was that a medic could only be healed by another medic or his own field dressings?

As a medic I actually like the idea that you have to look directly up or down.
When a medic self heals himself, he shouldn't be able to look around for enemies etc.
All of his concentration should be into healing himself, separated from what is going on around him.
It gives the medic less of an opportunity to scope an area out while healing himself.
You should have to rely on your squad to keep u safe long enough to heal yourself.
Yes, having to look up/down to heal yourself is basically due to the BF2 engine, but it's a good limitation imho.

Hence why the medic always says, "Medic, have to heal myself" on voip. He wants protection.

Sometimes I get to thinking, how much is it that we clan players (or players who played together for a gawd awful amount of time) really do that has just become a habit nowadays...worth thinking about.

lolol yea yea usefull bugs ^_^ .... (wonder if its possible to make your self NON invisable :O actualy allow the camera to view the body on wich your head is situated ( its been done on older games )

Well think of it in real life your not going to be looking straight ahead you will usally looking down at a wound trying to heal it.
