[0909] M113 boost

Post by Arnoldio »

On land the boost on m113 is no noticeable, but when in water it really gives him speedboat-like speed.

When pressing shift in water.

If the vehicle has to use water jets to move in the water, you can make it go faster irl (i think), which has nothing to do with it being a vehicle with tracks.

Just because a vehicle can "SWIM" does not make it amphibious. Not even close. Rough water will sink it like a toy in the bathtub. It is also NOT NBC proof. (Nuclear, Biological, & Chemical)

My question is why does the M113 not able to backup in the game? I tried it two times, could not get the 113 to back up. And I know for a FACT that an M113 in real life has a reverse gear!

It is not a Jet-ski dude. There are no "water jets" on it. The LAV doesn't even have "water jets". They use a system call Water drive, which is usually 2 propellers with rudders under the skirt in the rear.

that would be a coding error my friend. :(

I actually was able to reverse in the M133 on local server. Took a few tries, but still did it. :p

^^^ yeah, it IS possible to get the M113 to reverse, one of my mates was doing it in an online server earlier today on Asad Khal. According to him, you have to have some form of forward momentum before you hold down your reverse key, and then it will go (ie. press the forwards key a bit so that you start moving and then press reverse). Rather a strange thing to have a coding error with though, tbh.

If You press forward and turn at the same time, then while still holding turn switch your finger from forward to reverse u can go backwards once ur moving u can release turn and steer as normal. Take ur finger off reverse though and u gotta start again.

I learned this when some retard drove the logistic version into the tent on the VSP (our only logistics vehicle at the time).

Also should they really be so easy to kill with a Tech???

The M113 Series of APC is an amphibious vehicle. It is propelled through the water by the tracks. It does not use "water jets". Early versions were powered by detroit 2 cycle diesel engines. As for the speed in the wate it should not be very fast.

The M113's within PR came from the EoD Mod. :-D In EoD, they backed up just fine.. Not sure if the code got altered a bunch on the engine, but probably did.

Swimming Ability for M113 depends on which model it is, i.e. M113A2 was built too heavy causing it not to float @ proper height, so swimming equipment and ability was removed.
Refer to the following model spec sheets
APC M113

NOT ALL VARIENTS OF M113 Are amphibious. MAX WATER SPEED for the M113's that are able to swim is 3.6mph.
