Using WASD for turrent control like Combined Arms
Time and time again you maybe sneaking up on an enemy tank and it's torrent turns around really fast and kills you. I think that the controls should be more like in Combined Arms, where you use W-A-S-D to control the torrent rotation and gun elevation, that way the DEVS can set different tanks to different speeds on the torrent rotation. For instance, a T-62's torrent would move slower than a more modern MBT. Perhaps the mouse could be set to very low sensitivity so you can make slight corrections if your aiming at a more difficult target.

THE TORRENTS ARE TOO FAST. (P.S. spelled turret)
But yeah, I like the idea of using WASD to control the turret.

yeah but real MBT use joystick for controling they're turret... i have seen LAV25, Leopard C2, Leopard 2A6M turn they're turret and it can go REALY fast, i dont known for other vehicle, but it depend on how much pressure you put on joystick... so WASD would had to be "timed" to make turret turn slow and faster, faster and faster. a LAV25 can do a 360 in less than 10 seconds, and it goes faster for MBT...

i prefer the mouse but maybe you can just lower sensitivity?

Yes Rushn but the problem with that is that people have mouses that can change sensitivity on the fly leading to a 360 degree turret turn in 1 second, you cannot tell people what sensitivity to play at.
By the way OP, it's spelled turret, not torrent or turrent.

Agreed
Cant even say how many times I got killed by a tank in Gaza even though Im behind it. Never expected a turret to turn 180 and look right at me in less than a second, faster than I can duck down...
For a challenger 2 tank, it takes about 9 seconds to do a full rotation

This thread highlights some worthwhile issues. Infantry should have to screen tanks for them to be as immune as they are to close infantry at the moment.
On the other hand, the overpressure from an MBT firing should put you black and white within about 10m and knock you off your feer at about 50.

Maybe the mouse speed can be lowered, like in LMGs. I prefer mouse.

anyway, i think that using the WASD will be good, but like someone said...have the mouse to make small correction

limit the mouse to move the gun 5 or so degrees left and right as well as up and down in relation to the centre point of the turret which is controlled by WASD.
so sort of like a mini angle limited turret on the actual turret

Re: Using WASD for turrent control like Combined Arms
It would be ok to control it with WASD if the turret could actually stay on target as the rest of the body moves, but it cant, and many times you use a mouse to compensate for the body elevation on the move. If WASD would be used, you would actually have to stop every single time to engage anything, making yourself in process even easier target(if not for HAT then for at least a laser lock on). As of right now you can already hear the damn thing from half a map away, if you take away its turret mobility, might as well take the tanks out give everybody HAT kits and send them off to HAT each other
Also I've never seen anyone to turn their turret in a second, I think there is a limit to the turning speed set, your mouse sensitivity doesn't change much

The first new suggestion I see after opening and it's a resuggestion, it's fate I'm sure.. As Sniper_dog14 posted this already has a thread going, and hey, the thread's even still open. Use the search button next time, it is a requirement.

CA tanks also auto lock their targets.
Wasd would be far too inacurate...
The idea of adding mouse plus wasd would overcomplecate the whole process.
