Microphone on Windows 7

Post by ToleranS »

I installed Windows 7 32-bit on my PC. The Project Reality runs well, but i cant use the VOIP. I found out that the problem lies not in the game or the microphone, because I checked several microphones in other programs... they didn't work.

I checked the settings in the Control Panel > Sound and found that the computer simply can't find the microphone when I connect it (even after reboot).

Everyone says that I need to check my microphone settings in control panel, but there is no settings, until the computer can't find a connected microphone = (

Maybe someone had a similar problem? Can't find a solution...
And don't tell me to change the OS please =)

is your pc maybe a laptop where you deactivated the web cam?
my mic is linked to it so when i disable the wc i disable the web cam as well

in that window from the screenshot right click in the white area and click both "show" entries - see if mic appears now and what state it shows

what kind of mic are you using (usb?)

do you have the newest audio chipset drivers installed?

i am assuming you are using onboard audio then

try with installing Realtek's HD audio manager

does your regular sound work, i.e. can you hear music etc.?

go to "device manager" and have a look at "Sound, video and game controllers"
what is listed in there? (best make a screen shot)

if your device is not showing up:
in "device manager" select any entry (preferably S., v. & g. c. (s.o.)) and click on "Action" then click "Scan for hardware changes"
hopefully it will recognize the device now

still not there?
the chip might be disabled in the bios

Go to the Advanced > Peripheral Configuration menu to make sure onboard audio is disabled.
