When asking for help,
please remember to post your:
O/S,
systems specks,
network setup
And a brief history before and after problem started.
Please describe when your CTD or problem hits and
what you have already tried.

The more time you invest in writing up a good help request the less time you will have to wait for a qualified answer.

Happening to me too,

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit (also happened when i had windows xp professional sp2)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.00ghz
4096mb RAM
DX11
GeForce 8800 GTS 512

As OP said "there is a problem with your connection" pops up right after loading screen, but for me SOME servers do work which confuses me.
I've tried disabling firewall, reinstalling bf2/pr, reinstalling punkbuster including manually downloading most recent updates, updating video drivers, formatting pc and installing new O/S (windows 7 ultimate 64bit) although that wasnt for the purpose of this game not working.

Happens to me as well. When I join servers with more than 15ish people in it, I get the connection problem. Therefore, I have to start gaming in nearly empty servers every time and hope they fill up.

Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP3
Macbook Pro C2D T9500 @ 2.6GHz
2GB 777MHz DDR2
Nvidia 8600M GT 512MB

DSL from Deutsche Telekom
Connection: It happens on WLAN and direct from router
Router: Sinus DSL 154 SE

same applies for you too
especially when having connection problems that you cannot fix with conventional methods it is vital to post the network setup because the error is most likely there (esp. if you have already reinstalled windows)

network setup means
whats the topology?
what devices are connected? (brand, model) (if pc what network adapter)
how are they connected? (cabel, WLAN, USB, other)
how do you connect to the internet? (router, modem, direct)
what is your bandwitdth? (DSL 2k, 36k modem ;) )
what are the settings on each device? (how is IP determained [static, DHCP], any special routes setup, internet sharing)

I got the same problem everytime i join a game that has like over 20 people after 10 seconds it says problem with my connection. 0.9 PR worked since the day it came out no crashes at all but now all of a sudden i get this problem. After i get the message i basically either get kicked out by the server or have to manually press esc and disconnect from the server.

system specs

i5 750
8 gigs ram
Nvidia 230 GT
Using windows 7 home premium 64 bit
My network set up

Im hooked up with modem/router

Modem - Linksys Cisco ?
Router - Motorola Surfboard ?

I believe those are what they are called if you need more information let me know cause its damn annoying. If you need my network card i believe i can find out what its called but if you got any solutions let me know.

Punk Buster not updated:
Before you go online to join a server
you should:
1. Download pbsvc

2. Start pbsvc installer, you should see options for install, uninstall, test.
3. Run the Uninstaller, then delete the PB folder to remove any leftover files.
4. Restart your computer.

5. reinstall punk buster files with pbsvc( if your using Vista DO NOT set compatibility to XP, run as admin ok)
6. After pcsvc installs, click the "test" option to check the punk buster install you just did.
5. Make sure it comes back "all green"
6.Download pbsetup
(pbsvc DOES NOT install pbsetup.
If your using Vista DO NOT set compatibility to XP, run as admin ok)
7.Create a pbsvc installer shortcut AND pbsetup program shortcut on your desktop.
8.Run pbsetup (from the shortcut on your desktop) add BF2 to the games list, then hit update."

(pbsvc installs the punk buster 'engines' or applications.
PBsetup installs the files/gas the 'engines run)

Check Punkbuster B is set to auto re-start.
=HOG=Romeo_One_Three wrote:Open your Control Panel. Go to Administrative Services. Click

on Services while PR is running. Select Punkbuster B, right click, select properties, select the

recovery tab and make sure they all say "Restart the service" for all three dropdowns. You can do

the same for PB A, but generally speaking, it's the B client that stops responding. Any time you

update PB, you may need to re-do this step.
Firewall not set up (open) for BF2 and punk buster
UPDATE YOUR FIREWALL

Make sure your firewall has permission for:

BF2.EXE
PBSETUP.EXE
(search for your location)

PNKBSTRA.EXE
path:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOW64\PNKBSTRA.EXE
or (not 100% sure but for 32 bit O/S I think it's)C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOW32\PNKBSTRA.EXE
PnkBstrB.exe
path:
"C:\Users"your user name here"\AppData\Roaming\PnkBstrB.exe"
Don't forget to open for BF2VoipServer as well:
C/Program Files/EA Games/Battlefield 2/BF2VoipServer.exe
