Can't give up BF2 1.41

Is there a way to install BF2 with patch 1.5 and PR .09 as a separate installation from my main BF2 install, which I want to keep at 1.41 for singleplayer/coop reasons? I'm dying to play PR 0.9 but I just can't stand the 1.5 patch messing up ai commander and everything.

Install BF2 in a separate directory, have the patch point to that, install PR .9 on that?

i remember there was a thread regarding this as a backup solution back when 1.5 was in beta phase - but i cant seem to find it :/

I guess the real question is, what about registry keys? How does a person work around this? Batch files or something?

actually .reg fieles update the registry with just a double click (and a confirmation) so no need for complex batch scripting - just get the right entries
