Phospherous Merkava Shells?

Post by Heskey »

Hey guys,

Did a search and checked the *** thread (heheheh, '***' thread; for all the fast ropers! ;-) ) and found nothing so hear we go.

IDF are fast becoming one of my favourite factions; their player models look a bit questionable with their helmets, but I like their vehicles and primary weapon.

At the release of 0.9 I asked friends with interest in military about the IDF and what they told me was, in a nutshell, that their morality was questionable; that they have used white phospherus shells etc against the Hamas in the past and generally not adhered to the Geneva Convention, making them a 'lesser-of-two-evils' faction as opposed to true-BLUFOR.

So I did a lil' background reading on the IDF and learned of the occasions when such tactics have been employed.

Would it be a good idea to have a limited number of Merkava rounds that fire 'phospherus' rounds? HE rounds with an after-effect like the Molotov? Perhaps extend the duration of the burning to signal the difference between what came out of a coke bottle and what came out of a big bloody tank barrel?

Limited to maybe, 5-6 shells?

It's a 'poor' suggestion but just something to throw out there, I think.

Apart from the entire morality issue, I think the use of phosphorous in Gaza was done by artillery, not by tank fire.

WP is used primarily for smoke screening, and would not have as large explosive effect as a dedicated explosive shell.

The WP rounds used in Gaza were fired from 155mm howitzers.

Now to my knowledge there is no WP round for the Rheinmetall 120mm gun used by the US, Great Britain, Germany, and France. Which is what the IMI 120 is based off of. I also couldn't find anything that would lead me to believe that the IMI 120 has such a munition. If you have information to support you suggestion please PM me until then suggestion is locked for having no basis in reality.
