Why is it unfair, oh yes, I'm French and I usually eat them at breakfast...

Specular map (just remember that specular is not shown like this, it just tells how the surface with react with the lightning)

Great job!

one question that has nothing to do with the quality of your model:

What file type is the model itself?

file type? I don't get it! you mean what programs I use?
Maya 6 for modeling, Photoshop CS3 for textures and that Nvidia plugin for normals.
The last shots were taken on the BFeditor for a more coherent lighting

alright folks, update..

added base materials, some detail to the scope, and 2 camo patterns
I don't think it needs lots of scratches or worn paint, sniper rifles are expensive and carefully handled, so...

todo, better lens, better material distinction, and a few dirt and scratches(very few)

OH!!!

I like lol

I think the normal map needs to be "re"done, the rifling of the flutes looks painted.
And dirt/wear on the bipod would be great !

Personally I think the fluting is as good as it's going to get (at least in the BF2 engine). Work looks fantastic and almost complete!

If you want to scratch/mess up a few places: wear up the bipod, end of the muzzle, and the area around where the bolt rests :)
