You'd have to learn all the steps, which if you're gonna try mastering, will be hell.

Modeling, Texturing, UV Raying, Export, Coding, Animations.

Yes, well, I do not expect on becoming a dev over the night, or tacking on a devs work. As I said, I may be in over my head, and making a foregrip would be some good "training" ... and I don't see what effects a foregrip would have, but then again, I don't know anything  .

There is allready a modeled foregrip (on the HK 416 and AG3f2) no need to model a new one

it dose not !!! if it dose, find a source. till then foregrips are merely accessory attached to the RIS kit. see:

Any type of foregrip on a weapon is added. I know most Marines put foregrips on their M16s and M4s. IRL, it does help with accuracy by giving the shooter a more stable grip with the weapon. Plus, there also things like the Grip Pod, which is a foregrip with a bipod that extends out of the grip. I know something like this isn't going to be put in the game, because the US already has a great advantage with most everything they have. Just putting it out there that it's not just the Army that uses foregrips, and it's not just special forces that use foregrips. Most US service members use them on their rifles. So if you did foregrips, you need to do them for all of the US factions and not just the Army.

Thats a M4 Sopmod or M4A1 Sopmod, not a M4A1! And the foregrip doesnt have to be stuck at the weapon, just that you get it on it,default. When you "buy" it.(sounds kinda guerilla)

source ?

you said "If the M4A1 Sopmod has foregrips buildt in it" , i would conclude from that, that you said m4a1 comes with a forgrip built into the weapon, this is wrong.

look at gazz's reference pic a few posts back. the picture is of the SOPMOD accessory kit. The faded out gun in the background is the M4A1 and doesn't have a foregrip.

Sopmod is just an accessory kit to the M4 rifle. But that is a pretty obsolete term since the "Sopmod" of then is pretty much the status quo of today. Mainly the rail system to which you can attach a multitude of accessories to it. The rail system is most likely what you've seen, where a foregrip is attached to it.

i.e. Image

It is not "built in", just merely attached to the rail system that locks into place.

How about this:

The Op says he wants to make a foregrip for the m4 {and hopefully the m16 too} ok thats great I fully endorse it. Ive felt from the beginning that the m4s and m16s have always felt a little bit "naked" because, in every picture ive seen of army and marines it looks to me like 99 percent are using foregrips. However, I know that the animation part of the equation { modelling the soldier holding the grip} is supposed to be really hard so how about putting the foregrip on the weapons and leaving the current animations where the soldiers hold the gun by the barrel or by the clip? Because ive also seen many pictures of guns being held this way like this:

It is called a magazine, aka: mag.

With the current animation, the hand would go through the VFG quite obviously.

Btw, a foregrip: things like the plastic heatshield thing on a M4/Magpul MOE handguard...for example.

A VERTICAL foregrip: what we are talking about here.

Basically, vertical foregrips are useless unless your wrist cannot bend enough when blind-firing your rifle in CQB, I see no need to add them.

Try not to get too crazy with military lingo. I've found out people get butt hurt too easily on these forums.

I do really like the new thing when you zoom with m4 , the hand grab on the magazine. However Ive always wanted a foregrip but it must be a really low priority. And I think your swallowing for too much iAllex :) . Happend to me dozens of times, you see people doing 3D stuff and you get a hard on and want to make stuff yourself, until you notice its harder then you thought and you slowly starting to loose intrest. Im not saying you shouldnt give it a try, just be prepare that its not easy before youve done tutorials. Dont trying to scare you  , just prepare that people who often work with 3D was in the begining very up for it. So yes, its NOT photoshop.

Ya know the funny thing about having 45B training, is you can spot when people aren't fully understanding of what they're talking about. In case it has escaped your grasp, I'm referring to you.

There is no "M4/A1 SOPMOD" weapons system. There is only the M4/A1 weapons system, with the "SOPMOD" <Which stands for Special Operations Peculiar Modifications> kit as extra equipment.

The "foregrip" you keep referring to, would be that lovely little hand grip that is extra equipment, while the "fore-end" is what is railed and has all those fun attachments bolted to it.

Also, I'm curious to know if you even know the differences between the M4 and the M4A1.

When you enter a room full of armed men, shoot the first person who makes a move, hostile or otherwise.

He has started to think and is therefore dangerous.

I tis really up to the devs if they want to add a grip at the front, there is allready one modelled and ready for use(this is used on the HK416)

the reason why the Devs are not putting this in is becouse they have said they want to have everything standard, and the hand grip doesn't come standard with the M4 or with the m16a4 and therefore doesn't represent the standard infantryman (at least that was the reson last time this was brought up)

Yeah, and the Russian troops have an AK-74 bayonet on their webbing, yet there are AK century series bayonets in Russian issue (cannot find a source at this time).

To be honest, if so many troops that we see in pictures are using it, it should be added in for realism's sake.

It's a broomstick damn it. (USMC joke)

It's up to the operator to distinguish if they want to attach one, so I really don't see a purpose in this.
