A few days ago my pc crashed in the mids of a gaza beach game. When i started PR up again all my settings of my online account were reset and there were two offline accounts in the inlog screen.
Also i could not log in the first time, i got a pr.exe error. When i was able to login and had my settings adjusted again i noticed that all the in game marker icons were gigantic and i had a big fps drop.
So i reinstalled PR and the icons are ok again (the offline accounts are still there) but the Fps drop is still there. I also got kicked by punkbuster allot again. Seeing as i reinstalled the game could punk buster be reset and be causing the fps drop?

Re: Crash aftermath (FPS related).
looks like that crash screwed up some files there (that is: corrupted them)
completely delete the folder "My Documents\Battlefield 2" - thats where the profiles with settings are stored - the folder will be recreated next time you start BF2 - you will have to retrieve your account and customize the settings again but this way you are not dealing with corrupted settings files anymore
for your PB problems: manually reinstall pb

if you still are having problems define "crash" from your initial post - computer restart/ctd/bsod/etc

Ok, so i tried your suggestions. And punkbuster has stopped kicking me, but the FPS drop is still there. The crash is best discribed as a "freeze". Nothing worked anymore, not even ctrl alt del. I had to do a hard reboot to get it working again.SnipingCoward wrote:looks like that crash screwed up some files there (that is: corrupted them)

Also the last few days every time i shut down PR my pc just chokes for a few minutes. Even though if i alt tab in game everything is just fine.
I have a E6750 2,66 ghz dual core, 2 gig ram and a 9500 GT video card.
Also, i have everything on medium and all the Dynamic settings on off. My resolution is 1920 x 1080 (full hd)

Re: Crash aftermath (FPS related).
2 things come to mind:
1. further files are corrupted
- you should reinstall bf2, pr
- you should run chkdsk c: /r
2. ram is faulty or pagefile is too small
- use memtest.exe to verify RAM integrity
- check how your ram usage is (Resource Monitor) - how much free/available RAM is left, when PR is running

I tried some suggestions in this thread :
Large FPS drop in .9 on .87 maps? Check in here
The triple buffering, turning v-sync on and 98% view distance really made a difference.

Re: Crash aftermath (FPS related).
Not sure if you fixed this or now, but I have had this exact problem.
D/L This
Use it for two things.
1st setp is to log in to vBF2 and go to manage accounts
Delete every account even the blank accounts, or the accounts that have no text
Create a new account under a name you don't usually use
Set all your settings (keyboard, video, audio, everything)
Log out
Retrieve your main account this is the name you use all the time
exit vBF2
Open Battlefield Cleaner
go to "Account Settings"
Select the 1st name you made in the "source Profile" slot
Select your main name in the "Destination Profile" slot
Click update profile.
This will copy all your settings from the secondary account to your primary account. If this ever happens again (it will). Just delete the F'd up accounts and retrieve you main account, run BF cleaner and update. No need to reset controls again and again.
the 2nd thing this program does for you is removes all your old Graphics Caches. Make sure to clear those files before you run your 1st PR round as it will allow you to run faster.
I bet this fixes your problem.
