You're over simplifying this:HunterMed wrote:I dont get what all the hype about mumble is...
The only thing that is good about mumble is that you can communicate with SLs from other squads and sometimes Squadmembers.
Most of the time it is used as stupid spam and giving away own positions to the enemy because both teams are in the same channel on nearly all servers.
Disadvantages mumble:
- spam (between games and during games saying like: "oh I got him" and similar things, just stuff nobody is interested in) Dont tell me I am on the wrong server it is the same on all of them.
- giving away position to enemy (people often complain that people use the commo rose but use mumble at the same time)
Advantages:
- talk to friendly SLs
- talk to other SM sometimes
My conclusion is that it is more annoying than helping me ingame.
I sometimes play with mumble but I enjoy playing without it more.
- talk to friendly SLs
- talk to other SM sometimes
What you really mean to say is this:
- Inform other squads of enemies, quickly and efficiently without having to type or while on the move.
- Get ranges from other SL's.
- Communicate with other SL's to coordinate an attack or flanking maneuver.
- Get information from other squads about where you are getting shot from.
- Ask for patches, ammo, get healed, etc. from other squads.
- You feel as if you are more of a team, rather than being surrounded by unknown blues.
- You actually pay attention to who the other players are, rather than just your own squad.
The possibilities are endless when used right. And you say that Mumble has spam, so does VOIP, but the benefits of Mumble out weigh the setbacks.
