voip not working?

my in game voip has always worked. the push to talk button is "B." for some reason now when i join a game, my push to talk button does nothing and also does nothing if i change the key for it. no one can hear me and the little speaker/sound icon that appears when you press the push to talk button is not coming up...anyone know what wrong? i have not changed any configurations on my computer or game. this has happened out of nowhere.

check if in bf2 audio options voip is enabled

if so
join a game, press tab, click on the "manage" tab, click on the speaker icon next to your name twice (first: crossed out, 2nd: active (not crossed out))
