Picking up a few comments of my predecessors I also say give the people the choice If they want to spawn with a scoped or unscoped medkit. Since the medic indeed is a limited kit nowadays you wont have to worry about balance or everybody just using that kit. That would also lead to a nice side effect of more people actually playing as a medic which relieves you as a SL of the necessity to force the kit on members of your squad. Because what kept me most of the time from willingly taking the medkit was the lack of a scope. Its is only so far fun playing with a kit w/o a scope on a map where most of the firefights happen on medium to long distance.

The funny thing is all the CF medics i've seen either have Eotechs or iron sights IRL.

Optics are fine for a medic. It's a limited kit and one that spends a large amount of time not shooting. The only balance fears I would have is the ability to nail insurgents much easier, but that's very minor.

Personally I play medic a lot and don't think it proper to have a medic use a ACOG. Reasons being it somewhat makes him overpowered especially since people use optics already. Theres a possibility it could take away from the focus on doing less of the fighting and focusing on healing your squad and keeping your squad alive. With a optic it could encourage him to fight more which could lead to him focusing less on the job at hand and the medic getting killed more often.

I too have felt the frustration of having only iron sights. So possibly for the US how about selection between aimpoint or ironsights? Then have the ironsights have 6 clips the aimpoint 4 just so theres incentive to choose 1 or the other.

For russian medics or Mec china/etc just keep standard iron sights since theres no medium of a scope, or possibly include a optic for those but my point is optics shouldn't be the main focus.

I think they should be able to choose like an officer can or leave it as is.

Yeah but real medics are also doing theyre job of being medics. They dont have 1337 kiddies running around with ACOGs on point and just healing themselves when they get shot.

I'll take the ironsight over the reddot any day of the week.

However I dont mind adding an acog version... if the medic isnät doing his job then the squadleader should do his, and kick him from the squad.

The option of Red dot sight or irons is a good one, but irons ftw :)

Medic's Armament is used for self defense. Putting an optic gives him an offensive capability which will lead to balance issues.

I'm open to the idea of a medic armed with a scoped rifle. Frankly, anything that makes the medic kit more frequently used is good at this point.

Himalde wrote:Iron sights are best anyway, and the medic should just provide cover fire anyway. And the ironsights are best at close quarters when he needs to save his squad by talking out the last enemies. On long range he can just use smoke.
How is he supposed to provide cover fire when most fire fights occur at a distance? What if he is the last one up still and he can't suppress the enemies at a distance due to no scope or no smoke? What then? That's exactly the problem.

IMO its time to give the medic/Corpsman an optic finally. It already requires 4 members to get a medic now, so there is little chance of it being abused. Its no more abusable than someone joining the squad to grab a sniper rifle than leaving the squad when they spawn, except in this case, the medic is much more likely to die and you can easily get that medic kit back once he dies.

The British Army issue scopes throughout, so I'd like to see them with 100% scopes or whatever it is IRL. For other factions, if Medics use a mixture of optics or irons IRL, I'd like to see them have a choice in game. There shouldn't be a balancing issue, adapt and overcome I say.

The best defense is a good offense.

I agree, espescialy since IDF got 2 kind of medic, 1 with a "old school" green dot, and the other one with a MARS sight, and its awesome. There is "no obvious issue" of guy takin a medic and doing SF 1337 Sh!t with there M4A1 full auto. I think the Community is ready for a optic on every single class. From Medic to AA, AT, HAT, etc... . EOTECH/M68/ACOG/Chinese counter-part/Russian counter-part/etc.. that will be epic :D

Whatever you do.. Don't give them reddots.. Those things are horrible. I'd take Ironsights over them anyday.

I personally can't stand iron sights because i have to run my graphics on low and its hard to hit any one at any form of distance.

I would say in this question did not strongly rely on how things work IRL. It's doesn't matter.
For the gameplay scopes at medics, AA, HAT, Combat Engineers - is bad. Gameplay PR implies specialization classes of players. That is, all classes must deal with specialized job and be equipped with the just for her. Riflemans - keep fighting for long distances, medics - to cover the rear and reviving/healing, HAT-kill APC, engineers - engaged in fortification, mining and blasting. In this charming the game. No need to destroy it.

To wage the long range firefights there is in the squad always have people: Riflemans, LMGs, Marksmans. They have a very important and specific job! Give them an opportunity to engage in it! A medic in PR have no time to boring. Work is always in short supply.

i think this was sugested so many times since medic dont have scope anymore and u know why, becouse u had people soloing with medic kit and sniping around, when he was hit, he just simply heal himself. If u wont to see that, u must also remove self healing. And in real life medics by the default have iron sight or red-dot, if u saw medic with ACOG its probably mounted by himself, and when he is shot, he cant heal himself.
