No, I just had that open. 1.2GB usage for FF seems quite a lot :o . It can use a lot sometimes, but I don't think I've ever seen it use that much :o .

Well...I didn't notice much difference in PR (I just overhauled my system so it all runs well to me now) but this definitely does help FireFox.

Thanks a lot, AfterDune!!!

I knew it had everything to do with the memory not being cleared properly, that caused my game to crash every second map. I thought of looking for a memory clearing program but ran into all kinds of warnings against such programs. So when I read this thread, the response and the results, I finally gave it a chance and it actually works flawlessly! :D

I used it yesterday without crashing once. I usually crash on the second map just when it's done loading and is verifying client data. What I did yesterday was hitting "Alt" + "TAB" after each round, just before the new map starts to load, pressed "Optimize Now" and went back into the game.

Now I don't need to restart the game, I don't have to wait for the EA servers to log me in and I'm not bothered anymore with other people taking my slot, so that I have to wait in line again in order to get back onto the server and be late for the new round :)

Thank you guys so much for the help!

I approve of this program 100%!

It seems to work for some, it doesn't for others. I guess that *if* you experience problems, try it out and see if it works for you. And yeah, optimizing it "constantly" seems to be the "wrong" way, as you're gonna have to reload textures and such, possibly causing hickups/lag. If you're not experiencing problems, don't use it as you don't need it obviously.

Tried it. Started it, started PR, loaded up Dragon Fly... after 20 minutes of loading I had to shut down the game via alt-F4 because it didn't respond, and another 20 minutes later the PC responded again.

so... no change.

enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Okay, so what settings do you have this thing on. Do you just choose the "recommended settings"?
It helped with my bf2. but now, im getting CTD's and stuff.. ;\

I've been using this program ever since this post was created but I only use it to optimize my ram every 120 minute. If you have a multi core processor I'm sure you can run the optimization very frequently without noticing it while playing. It does seem to help the perfomance quite a bit if you have been playing a map for a long time.

Just use the recommended settings but don't set the auto optimization to run too often if you can feel it in game. Especially if you like flying ;-)

What do you mean? You can play BF2 but PR crashes?

Well yeah, i first ran it and didnt seem to have any problems (apart from some jumpyness in game) but now it seems to always crash my PR on map loads, usually the 2nd round of something. i had to usually run PR on medium because the memory error but i was able to run it in high with this program running pretty decent. So im not sure

Dude, it's the textures, try putting it back to medium and playing with this.

I want a full report by morning.

BF2 is fine for me (but near 80% usage lol) never get crashes. BUT when video editing i crash a shit load due to memory issues (i believe). so this could help with that too no?

I don't get it. Why do you wanna use such a small amount of RAM? If you've bought 4 GB of RAM you'd think one would want to use 4 GB's of RAM... It's there for fast access - the whole concept of RAM.
The only time it would be good to "clean up" is if there's some serious memory leakage. Correct me if I'm wrong, been some serious time since I read into these things.

I think BF can only use up to 2 gig's because its not 64 bits. Only 64 bits programs can use the full 4 or more.
