Pilots get sidearms/Submachine guns(explicit)

Post by [=TC=]nuetron »

*note!I am NOT resuggesting that pilots flat-out be rearmed. This is not a resuggestion for that, this is a carefully considered idea for the elimination of airdropped nubs, with the return of the Personal Defense Weapon
Now I know of the big problem with rambos grabbing pilot kits and jumping from helicopters with their M9s, getting slaughtered and not helping gameplay in the slightest...

But how about for CERTAIN maps, there be a resurgence in pilot kits with sidearms and even sub machine guns? Only maps where there will be no threat of nubs hopping in transport helicopters and wetting their pants that they get to be an airbourne squad- just where an acutal downed pilot(or role playing pilot in someone's Machinama) would need a weapon in a pinch.

Maps would be limited to:
-Insurgency maps with no transport helos(99% of nubs hop in a transport helo and want to sky dive, VERY few jump in a jet and do this)
-maps with jets but no helos(c'mon. there's BOUND to be atleast one someday...
-certain Insurgency maps; depending on the likelyhood of people 'going airbourne' and whether or not people play the game like it's meant to be played or not.

A pilot with a pistol(or especially a sub machine gun; considering Naval Aviators for the US Marines/Navy can choose their own PDW) isn't the most potent danger on the battlefield- but if the rules are bent so that NO pilot gets any weapon...then that's defeating a major part of combat- "Broken arrow" is a term used for downed aviators. Meaning they are still combat effective.

Please don't get rid of armed pilots permantly, just where we need to avoid people jumping from helicopters. Trust me, like the deviating the rifles to slow down combat- this will be marginally effective, but it will work. :D

You are in fact suggesting we rearm pilots. Though limitedly.

However this was considered. Thought about and ultimately decided that it was not a good idea. Because players are hardcoded they will always force us to make compromises.
