Also, in 1 channel mode, i can just join the mumble channel and then get in the server...
in 2 channel mode, you have to join the server first to see which team you are in, then go alt-tab to get to the right team and then get back, which is just to much of an annoyance.
There's no downside of having 1 channel, so why have 2 channels?

Yeah, cos it's really hard to ALT+TAB...NyteMyre wrote:Also, in 1 channel mode, i can just join the mumble channel and then get in the server...

I love the idea of 1 channel, but only if everyone in the game has it. (Eg: Mumble 100% replaces in-game voice chat and works as smoothly as it). Naturally, that isn't the case yet, so it just breaks things.

Those are the main reasons i like 1 channel, roleplay mostly...
The options are equally good, one offers more teamwork, other one more roleplay, there is no downsides on both, but i prefer roleplay (1 channel) because you can still do same things as with 2 channels, only more advanced...

Re: Which Mumble "style" do you prefer?
I think 1 is hilarious to use!
Actually real examples ive been in: A "bait" screams like h*** and draws attention to him while the rest of the squad waits somewhere nad ambushes..
Once i teamed up with an isurgent squad ( i was usmc ) and we had a great time fooling around (low player count on server, haha..)
2 is good too, sometimes the mics are on too loudand everyone can hear what you say =/

The best would be to have yet another mumble layer, so you have:
- Local to everyone
- Local to team
- Squad leader radio

Re: Which Mumble "style" do you prefer?
when i read this thread its coming clear why there is not more mumble users.
its a bit confusing to me also.
i have two times tryed that mumble is working...
first was on some mumble server and it worked fine(i guess)
today i tryed in some other server and i hear from there:
"did i get you with my rpg?"
"yeah,it was painfull"
"we gonna come and rape your body now(laughing)"
"no,im gonna kill you all"
its stupid.
i dont need that bullshit.
is mumble added cos of that?
that you can speak some stupid childiss ****?
yeah,i disconnected from that server and i have to really consider that i wanna ever use mumble.
just make all servers layer: squadleaders channel and your own teams channel.
thats it.keep it simple.
why we need hear what enemys got to say?
just think that two channels are like handsignals.
yea,im noob with mumble,so maybe there eas something that i dont know.

You are completely right... some people are childish ... 2 channels solve that, but, i want to be able to talk to civillians, maybe thelly give me some useful informatio nor something...maarit wrote:when i read this thread its coming clear why there is not more mumble users.

Yeah we are working hard to build a retard filter into Mumble ... but it keeps kicking regular players. It can't seem to tell the difference.maarit wrote: its stupid.

Re: Which Mumble "style" do you prefer?
as far as I understand mumble is meant to simulate normal IRL speaking inside the game. Thus you should be able to hear everything thats been spoken out loud. That's why I voted for 1 channel, where you have SL-rooms for both teams for that convenient "whisper" talk.
Having own channel for both teams kinda takes the whole idea away imho. If your only reason for voting for two channels is the childish behavior of some retards, what's your option in the game when surrounded by ones?
I think it would be kinda fun to see how the mumble works with that possible PR nations league that L4gi posted about somewhere.
Think about just hearing the enemy blabbering in some foreign language that you cannot understand at all. What are they saying? What are they planning? With two channels, you wouldn't hear a thing about it.
If you want to separate teams in mumble, why the hell do you even bother with the whole thing then? Why don't you just use the buildin voip-system and relay messages through the commander if necessary.

In RL they use 2 chanel comms, 1 is used between squad leaders or SL -> Comm, and second is inner comms between squadmates, so i support 2 channel.

I guess you are right about that, no argue about it. But, i don't expect militia nor insurgents to have such technology available.Ca6e wrote:In RL they use 2 chanel comms, 1 is used between squad leaders or SL -> Comm, and second is inner comms between squadmates, so i support 2 channel.

Thats not what 2 channel represents, thats what squad leader channel is for. Really 2 channel system has 4 channels.
team1
team1 SL
team2
team2 SL
and 1 channel system has 3 channels.

If this is possible, I think it would be the way to go. 'Cause I loved it when you could do some RP with enemies, be it a prisoned or a surrounded enemy. Problem is, there will always be the people who exploit this for childish insults.
