PR Acronyms

Post by Metal_militia_103 »

Forgive me if this is a repost (I did a search on the forums and didnt find anything).

Perhaps we could put a list of popular PR acronyms/terms/slang/phrases and maybe sticky the thread or add to the manual/wiki. It would be helpful for those new to PR and without real world military experience.

Things such as RP, FOB, HAT, LAT, RPG etc. Maybe even explain the "OVER 9000"

Thoughts?

RP = Rally Point
FOB = Forward Operating Base
HAT = Heavy Anti Tank
LAT = Light Anti Tank
RPG = Rocket Propelled Grenade
PR = .....sigh....
GL = Grenade Launcher (or Good Luck sometimes :p )
SL = Squad Leader
SM = Squad Member
GG = Good Game
GGA = Good Game All
etc.

I'd choose "dead dead" to make sure the person you're talking to knows you're unrevivable :p . I'd use down or wounded when I can still be revived.

The over 9000 thing is from dragon ball
YouTube - Original Over 9000 Scene
original scene but then they made ventrilo harassment with it and all that stuff

RP- rally point
FOB- foward operations base
There is only one unforgivable lie That is the lie that says, This is the end, you are the conqueror, you have achieved it and now all that remains is to build walls higher and shelter behind them. Now, the lie says, the world is safe.? The Great Khan.

40k is deep like that.

Yeah, when will they really learn.... We're both right though :)

Rocket Propelled Grenade - Glossary Definition - Army Technology
Rocket-propelled grenade - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Definition of rocket propelled grenade
RPG: Definition from Answers.com

RPG is a transliteration of РПГ, the Russian abbreviation of Reaktivnyy/Ruchnoy Protivotankovyy Granatomyot (реактивный/ручной противотанковый гранатомё&#1090 ;) , "jet/hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher", according to Wikipedia that is. Therefore, RPG really does stand for Rocket-Propelled Grenade, but the explosive that is called the grenade is actually a warhead.

So, regardless what definition of RPG you pick, you know what people mean in-game.....

RPG also stands for Role Playing Game, but that's not the one we're looking for here ;) .

Anyone have any ideas on how to best organize this into an official list?

I can start putting together an official list but want it to be useful/noticed by people that need it.

A1KP2 refers to the following:

A1 grid, there are 32 grid squares going from A1-2-3-4-etc to H1-2-3-4-etc, all the way up to A8 and H8.

KP2 refers to the keypad, as grid squares are further divided up into 9 little boxes.I use a simpler term, A47 for example, which would mean the grid of A4, and the keypad of 7.

The keypads don't work like your mobile phone however, they work like this:

7 8 9
4 5 6
1 2 3

We often use 'revivable' for wounded and 'dead dead' for dead.

Its funny how popular dead dead is ;)
