Engineer Squad Vehicle

Post by RememberTheAlamo »

Is it possible to create a vehicle that would clear out mines and not blow up while doing it?

This is what I'm talking about:

Mines are not widespread enough in PR to bother with this, but thanks for the video it was an interesting watch.

Agree with hardcandy, i would love to have stuff like E.O.D teams and other non infantry roles in game but the maps already stretch the 32 players we have, anymore roles like this just mean even less people searching for caches.

Or less flags taken. :P

It would be nice to have, but whats so wrong about getting out and wrenching a mine?

That is cool... However I would rather have a Cougar, IED-resistant.

Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

There are currently a number of IED-resistant vehicles being modeled for the PSC faction, and I know between the MRAPs, RG-31s, and all the other stuff fielded in real life at the moment, we should be seeing some more protected vehicles in-game. I can't speak to that being a reality, but based on how actual soldiers move around a lot of the battlefields PR takes place in, there should be some.

So, somebody should step up to the modeling plate. ;-)

I'd also like to point out that the likelihood of a dedicated mine-removal vehicle in PR is slim-to-none. There simply aren't enough players. A vehicle that would allow the crew to survive a mine explosion would be nice though.

ie. Your vehicle would get critically damaged/on fire with a mine, allowing time for the crewmen to escape, even if injured? Would be nice :)

That would be the ideal way for MRAP/IED Resistant Vehicles to be portrayed.

I like the idea of a dedicated engineer vehicle, but I'd have to agree with the others that it is a little specific for most of the maps.. Now, new ways of interacting with/removing mines & IEDs.. That would be sexy. ;)

To be honest, I'd like to see the engineer being able to snip the wires on a remote IED (Arty IED, pipe bomb) and defuse it, that'd make the engineer a valid EOD class for me. Plus the risk of getting blown sky high while doing it.

The Engie car should be able to run over pressure-detonated mines without exploding into little bits, and not die from IEDs, assuming most of the damage is dealt to the bottom.

It should also require an engie kit for the driver's seat.
