hey guys,
I recently decided to upgrade my graphicscard, I had a Ati Radeon x600, bought a 4650 HD(not the highest upgrade but good enough for me)
I then couldn't run the game because there was a problem with the screen refreshment rate, changed that and all seemed fine, I could play bf2 on highest graphics, pr still on low to medium graphics though, was a bummer...
then a new problem arose, I one day wanted to use an older singleplayer account, and the game crashed when it tried to make a connection, after that I could log in with another account, tried an older multiplayer account and it logged in but I had a black screen, and only my mouse showing up(was on FH2 btw)
I closed the application using ctrl+alt+dlt and taskmanager and haven't been able to play bf2 or any mod since. When I double click the bf2 icon nothing happens, when I go to the taskmanager and watch processes I see bf2 is running but I can't access it.
does anyone have any idea on how I could fix this?
thanks in advance,
Wakain

Re: BF2 problems after upgrade
if you have got a new monitor the frequency might still be set to that of the old one and your new monitor is incompatible with that one (esp. when changing from a CRT [usually 60 to 120Hz] to an LCD/TFT [usually 60 to 75Hz] monitor)
Your older profiles might still have the old refresh rate setting and I think the default profile is used for the login screen but is sync'ed with the last used account. So the refresh rate setting in "default" might have been overridden to the faulty one.
Try to apply your refresh rate fix to all profiles, including "default".
in "My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\000x" and "My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default" is a file named "Video.con"
it could look something like this:

Change the 85 to 60Hz. Usually 60Hz is supported by all monitors at a resolution of 800x600.Video.con wrote:VideoSettings.setTerrainQuality 2

Re: BF2 problems after upgrade
got it fixed today:
deleted all my profiles except for default and 0001(defaultplayer)
and synchronised default and 0001's video and audio settings manually
hope this helps anyone else in the future
