OGT (I dont really care much about this one but damnit we lack jungle maps in which you can actually have firefights with small arms)
EJOD
Mestia
Zatar (face it...even though its a vBF2 map it was quite awesome)
and the old version of Asad with GB and MEC

I wouldnt even mind kicking out a good chunk of the new maps. As detailed a good deal of them lack the thing called GAMEPLAY. Since the mapper team actually worked hard I wont start bitching about the maps and gonna leave em unnamed

+1 for Operation Ghost Train, I want it back!

Korengal Valley may die an honorable death, it's just unplayable and, as the mapper himself said, not to be fixed in any way. It's an absolute server killer, as everybody leaves or goes idling as soon as this map appears.

+1 I hope someone will make a version 2 someday. If I get the time I will try to pick up mapping again. I didn't have the patience last time I tried

Never played a lot of Ghosttrain, didn't like it. Wouldn't mind a big jungle map with several small wooden villages as well as one huge city. Drop in a couple of CAS and transport Huey's, set it versus militia (Can be both AAS and insurgency) and I'll be blasting Creedence Clearwater Revival from my chopper all day.

Operation Ghost Train:

The map it self has a cool jungle fog-of-war atmosphere over it
The river obstacle deploy a useful planning obstacle when it comes to how learning to break a potential stalemate battle and the wideness of the river it self, also create the option to learn/train/try how to make use of concentration when the stalemate has been deployed
The amount of obstacles on the map, hereunder the jungle it self, hide a great potential for maths out there, always trying to find the perfect timing, as that player type aim for (this is the most important reason for getting it back imo)

Ejod Dessert

Its a great first-team sized-right-move-win-map
It deploy the feeling as CO (to me), that when things go fast against you, they really go fast! - due to the few amount of obstacles
Its a true mobility map, cause change, really can become the constant battle-factor here

Qinling is not taken out.
Got something wrong then, too much whisky ...maybe? Thx anyway!

Sjing...something security..hm, no more whisky as breakfast for me...this week

First map i ever played and although it is outdated, i believe it could become a useful basic-CO-training map

Define irony. A bunch of guys playing PR year after year. A game teaching initiative as the prime mover.
However, in regard to EA, these guys never took the initiative.

Operation Ghost train. I always had fun and I loved how well the sound was done.

OGT was blah IMO. I liked Mao Valley way more. I'd love a larger version of that. Although, there would be a hard time placing FOBs. Maybe a skirmish version is the answer to that. However, I am not a fan of skirmish, so...

Hmm, I guess that a mixture of Mao and OGT would be nice in that there is no river, some small openings for only FOBs and not much else, and that the map is in a valley. Dreamy jungle warfare :)

Slightly offtopic: the amount of maps with rivers dissecting them is more than necessary IMO. Can't we fight away from running water on occasion?

hehe... favorites and popular maps are cyclical :) When OGT, Mao, Muttrah1, and other older maps were around people hated them too... the development cycle for maps is usually two or three cycles before the layouts are suitable for all. The logic behind that statement is complex, how ever when designing a map its hard to predict how the general public will play the map.

I remember when i was making Archer I would often login and just watch where people tended to go, where bottlenecks were, and many other notable events. Then on the next release minor tweaks were added - subtracted. I still believe that Archer (for example) is not a level that will be well accepted by public masses (and it isn't). There are too many irrelevant distractions (ie. the castle) that pubbies tend to get horny about. The most successful and enjoyable experiences that I hear about is when gamers function as a meso unit (whole team via commander) rather than a macro perspective (squads only). Regretably, I still see the odd team just sitting back and sniping the entire round

Nonetheless, your feedback is valid as it is your opinion and I'm sure that many share it as well. I only ask that you folks continue to submit your ideas on ways to improve maps through meaningful discussions, detailed drawings, and references in the appropriate forum sections. That being said, "new maps suck" or "I do'nt like any of them" is not a helpful or progressive comment....
