hehe, Perhaps he did a smidgen, its hard work making a map... I don't believe anyone refuses a good critique, followed by a suggestion with improvement... gripes on the other-hand, well.... they get... hmmm... well... boring....

I know mostly everyone in the thread means well and meaningful opinions do matter, to us :)

Some of the larger BF2 maps. They were good with the right style of play PR provides. (on the right servers of course!)

Hmm, Mestia and OGT in.

Out... lets see: Kashan, Yamalia and Silent Eagle.

Can you tell I'm not an asset whore? :p

In all seriousness though, Korengal. The map is imbalanced to the point of unfairness. I don't mind that per se, I rather like Gaza for instance, and it's probably harder for the IDF. But that combined with the fact that you need to be a mountain goat to get about, makes it a particularly hair tearing experience. There are hole's in the ground you can't get out of if you fall in for goodness sake!

I hope it die's in a pit of fire.

In: Operation Ghost Train & Assault on Mestia

Both are maps that I always thoroughly enjoyed. They were helpful for seeding a server and offered some truly unique infantry gameplay which I think is partially missing from 0.9. I especially miss the jungle battles experienced on OGT and Tad Sae, and in fact I would take Tad Sae over OGT if the flag layout were revised with much much smaller cap radii.

Out: Battle for Qinling & Beirut

Battle for Qinling is a map I just can't get on with. For an asset heavy map it is certainly horrible to use assets (at least ground assets) as the rolling hills do not lend themselves to vehicular activity. It feels very unrealistic and very boring with no focus to any of the fighting.
Beirut I think is the poorest of the new maps by a long distance as it just does not have any kind of density to it. I remember when it was being shown people were saying it looked like the new Muttrah but really it is more akin to Muttrah v1 than v2, ie. small, unrealistic and an insult to its illustrious neighbour. It is by far the worst of the new maps in terms of quality and detail, just look at the level of detail on Iron Ridge or Siege at Ochamachira and you will see the difference.

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

Operation Ghost train, lots to see, lots of smoothness, good jungle map, which PR lacks right now.

Would love love love to see OGT in again, Assault on Mestia as well with changes (especially to the objectives). A PR remake of Zatar Wetlands would be amazing as well, I would absolutely love to see it. Maybe I'll put it on my list for the future.

As far as maps to take out: Korengal - I have yet to really enjoy a single round playing as either faction on this map. It's just too many people in a small area, with the current taliban spawn system its insanely spammy, and the fight ends up focusing entirely around US main.

Qinling has a really negative reception overall, which means everyone leaves when it comes up and servers don't play it. I think it's a great map, but its never played, so I would probably remove it.

I want EJOD again :) And Road to Kymoyang (or something like that) had lots of fun rounds :)
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Why was Mestia taken out??? Was my fav small inf map, it wasn't spammy at all, and it had epic hill fights. Ya sure the warehouse flag was way too hard to cap, but in my eyes small tweaks to a map is better than totally removing it. Besides I have seen loads of people like/play Mestia.... I miss it.
However Ghost train can stay dead in hell for all I care.
Also Ejod played really well, I think giving the US a tank, and having the TOW would have really balanced the map, and we wouldn't have the gas station rape.
Why should we give up on maps that just need small tweaks? TBH I prefer these old maps to the new ones, they just worked....
