Re-introducing training?
I searched for it and have not found anything, I'll ask.
Could we consider bringing back training mode from the dead? The coop settings are messed up, jets are turning way too hard, just is wrong.
And to be honest, most of the players are switching sides and just bomb the main over and over again.
I do believe training was a better way to practice pretty much everything.

the jets etc turn had because the Bots don't understand it otherwise, though I was under the impression taht vehicles in the human configuration were avaliable, I certainly know there are APCs that are 2 player instead of 1 in order to practice driver/gunner skills.

Re: Re-introducing training?
You complain about players bombing main over and over but that always happened in training. Generally most training servers you didn't really train you either tried to fly and get bombed on runway, raped by aa or people would just drop bombs onto mec vehicle training.

Re: Re-introducing training?
Unfortunately, Coop was proclaimed as the new 'training' mode, but in a way that was false advertising.
Hell, you could use Coop to train in previous versions, too, you just had to DL and install the add on.
So this isn't a new thing in all honesty.
The biggest issue are air vehicles.
Bots can't fly the MP versions, so bot friendly versions exist.
This causes a conflict.
On Kashan, (and some other maps) you can find MP versions if you truly want to learn to fly the right way.
I'll say that we are looking into changes, but they won't happen with the next fix.
Another issue is all the Coop servers I have played have humans on Blufor and bots on Opfor.
32 humans versus 32 bots is no contest. Especially on maps where heavy vehicles are involved.
And almost all servers i have played will kick you if you try and play the 'other' side.
Found this out after I pillaged the US on Muttrah
Also noticed they set the AI difficulty level pretty low.
I'm not going to tell servers how to run their sh*t, but it makes for some boring matches.
In general, however, 95% of the stuff in Coop is perfectly fine for 'training'.
So QCRulzz, it is what it is for now.
Pretty sure there is one (or maybe a couple) MP servers that have created a 'training' mode. Check them out.

Yeah guys, like Ballard said - the problem is known to us and we're working on improvements.

Re: Re-introducing training?
So why don't we just make a training-oriented map? Some sort of "boot camp".
Basically make all the vehicles like they would be in multiplayer, have an airfield, target range, etc.
Make some trails to practice driving, maybe code in all the requestable kits in some sort of "armory" so you could practice with all the weapons.
Have the AI spawn on a target range and have them move at different speeds. Some standing still, some walking, some sprinting, etc.
You could also make a mock MOUT course, where players could spawn in and practice CQB and urban combat.
Right now in PR you either learn by playing a game, or you learn by killing bots. However there's no laid back "Training/practicing" environment. The lack of a "tutorial/training" element in PR is why so many people aren't getting the game. They need to practice. Sure, some people could practice by playing online, but it would be impressive to have a built-in training grounds.

Re: Re-introducing training?
This Mod lends itself to Team work. If the basis of game play is to improve this, then COOP/Training is very valid.
Most servers set up to play these modes do not promote team work. They are in it for the Bot bashing and asset investigation.
They have inconsistent admins and promote no defined policy on game play.
There are a few that do have solid and valid team play rules that are strictly enforced by active admins. They are usually the ones at the top of the server list.
Oh, and on these, the bots are ramped up big time.
However you wish to spin it, the COOP Mode particularly, is of great benefit for improving direct team gameplay.
Kudos to all those that visit those top servers and know what I am talking about!!!

I'd like to see the bot planes get a re-skin, or at least an identifyable mark. I've tried to fly and it takes a few bail outs, or crashes till you find a MP one.

Re: Re-introducing training?
Just to add to ballard_44 reply the main issue we have is how do we make a training map that doesnt evolve into a deathmatch map, which you can discuss all you want but all the training map servers turned into that. What we really need is a few cool training map (infantry, tank, air). But those have yet to be made.
the other thing to do is look at TG for example as I believe they run a training server. And if your gonna learn teamwork from anyone, its them (just my opinion).

Re: Re-introducing training?
I honestly think that training servers need to be..."regulated"...by the PR team. As in, tighter rules, or the PR team paying for the servers themselves...through donations. A training course would be fantastic, as in an obstacle course with both people and vehicles, tweaked AIX AI vs. a real squad in different environments, and range courses to practice rockets. Of course, I could go on forever, but yeah.[R-DEV]CodeRedFox wrote:Just to add to ballard_44 reply the main issue we have is how do we make a training map that doesnt evolve into a deathmatch map, which you can discuss all you want but all the training map servers turned into that. Re: Re-introducing training?
I'm perfectly happy with co op
However, they should add Training as well.
Just make bombs not teamkill, if not, then have very close "domes" around the base. I'd rather have shitty training then any training.
Kashan Training should be just regular kashan.. without the different spawns.
Problem solved. Your basically removing it because some players were causing problems. I knew a couple servers where admins would ban people who was doing stupid things like that. It's like removing any map because people teamkill on it more then any other map. =\
Alternatively, change kashan where the MEC team can't spawn. Problem solved.

Re: Re-introducing training?
IMO Kashan 64 training was really just a map where people either practiced SEAD tactics, spawn raped, or teamkilled via bombs.
Kashan, with jets, and the inability to teamkill via bombs, and helicopters ONLY would be the way to go. Then just have all landmarks covered with Tunguskas and Gaskins for the MEC.
At least people get to practice SEAD and AA gunning without everything else. Then we can throw in armor training on another map, then infantry training on another.

The problem was hunt3r, is that they had AA everywhere and were basically camping the runway. Which was geh.
Just remove all MEC vehicles. =P

I thought that looked promising too, as it is genuinely a training map albeit pitting USMC against US army. It is proposing pretty much everything!maarit wrote:yeah that would be nice.

chuckduck proposed originally "# Weapons Armoury
# All Kits avalible for pickup
# Obstacle/Assault Course
# Rifle Range
# Advanced Weapons Range
# Explosives Weapons Range
# MOUT Training (Shoot House)
# Light Vehicles Track
# Heavy Armour Track/Range
# Simulated (US vs GB) Combat Enviroment
# All Land Vehicles
# All Helicopters
# Maybe Planes
# Maybe Para Jump Training (If i can work it out
# Maybe More (If you suggest Something)"
so it seems quite cool...

Re: Re-introducing training?
I loved training mode, because I was able to test new features quickly... everything spawned fast and so did I.
A lot of the issues people mentioned can be fixed by the server being responsible and having admins.
Instead of:
Player team killing?
Ban
Spawn rape?
Ban
We did:
Spawn rape?
Get rid of training
Team killing?
Get rid of training

Re: Re-introducing training?
Honestly, most of the time i would just get onto a local server to try and fly. There wasn't much point to go online besides training to take out few lazes but even then I'd get killed by aa most of the time. But who cares, people tk in co-op just as much in training (from what i've seen at least) and it isnt much better because the bots suck so you're not getting a whole lot of practice from killing them. I don't know why training got removed. it didn't do any harm to keep it in, it only did good. If there was a tker then call an admin. If there isn't any, then leave and go to another training server or make ur own local one. It's as easy as that. It was a place for noobs (like me) to learn how to fly choppers and jets correctly, even if that meant getting locked every 2 seconds.
