Mg on Tow

Post by Serbiak »

Just look at this. Is this common?

Well if it is I think it should be added although it gives the already powerful tow-hmv another feature.

+1, and I'm not sure how it could be implemented.

It's hard to tell if it's remotely controlled on that pic, but if it isn't it looks extremely awkward to fire.

Almost ALL vehicles have more then one weapon on them.

I saw a Humvee with a Mk19, a Mag58 (M240 for you yank types) and a para-minimi (M249 for the yank types again) all attached to a crew shield that comes in the up-Armour package.

Aussie vehicles pack similar fire power (depending on who your roll with).

No, It would just over power the humvee.

I'd love to see a MK. 19 Humvee. I'm not so sure how common but this helps with a better angle on where the M249 goes.

Not so sure how you implement that onto a Humvee though. Probably you press f to switch between the gun and the rocket.

Hard to see but I would almost say so because it
1. is sitting very low (also if you compare with the other pic)
2. why would you need a bipod when it is mounted?

Saw a Quad in Afghan last year with a Minimi mounted to the front rack, so wish I'd have got a photo.

Back on subject, it's not hard to fit a universal gun mount to any vehicle or come to think of it, anything. It would be a bit excessive in game though.

we also have a busmaster with a konegsberg RWS PROTECTOR NM221 mount Designed for 12.7mm M2 and MK19 40mm AGL, late development is underway (some indication is that they have already been deployed to special forces whether this is with ADF forces i dont know yet) to add the javelin and hellfire optional mounts as well.

The mounting pintles for the TOW launcher and for the MGs (M2, Mk-19 and M240) are on different sides of the HMMWV weapon station. The M240 is a common secondary / defense weapon on the TOW carrying HMMWVs in the weapons companies of Marine and Army infantry battalions.

It's a 7.62mm medium MG manned by an exposed gunner, so I fail to see how it would imbalance the game if we somehow found a way to realistically implement it.

There was a thread on milphotos that had a quad with a minimi on it but i cant find it :(

I dont think addding a m249 with no zoom would be a problem at all.

How would that unbalance the HMMWV?
In game, whenever with a full squad I will never be afraid of a MG HMMWV as much as i'd be of an APC like the Stryker or the WZ. Most of the time it fails to kill my squad unless we got mildly retarded and were not using cover.

Honestly, if anything adding that M240 would make more sense since that vehicle is quite vulnerable already. It's not like people will grab the TOW just for the M240 ; I don't see anyone being ''OMFG teh MG Hummzorz arr overpower'd runz!'' whenever one's around.

Now.

Mount a TOW or an Mk.19 on a Stryker and I might be more afraid. But a TOW-240 HMMWV? Sheesh. Come on, the TOW's much scarier than the 240. Adding it = no difference TBH.

Well that's interesting. Never seen that before. Aside from with the CROWs.

Adding an M249 wouldn't "overpower" it. I say yes, as long as it's used extensively.

I see there is now a thread on the CAAT HMMWV. Awesome. (Less inclined people, CAAT-Combined Anti-Armor Team; HMMWV-High Mobility, Multi-Wheeled Vehicle-Humvee)
