[suggestion] AC-47 Spooky
hehehe Im one of the few believers of PR:v so heres the first suggestion: add the C47 spooky, I know in the modern PR its not realistic but when this was used in Vietnam it was mainly to support ground troops. err...just watch the vid....

Then because multiple m1919's(first version) and GAU-2's were not good enough they made the Ac-119 and then progressed on to the obvious XD

Well we don't really use Attack Cargo Aircraft in Project reality. And there were very few of them ever in the air in Vietnam. They'd use them to halt the supplies and to support Special Ops forces. How about use the AC-47 spooky as an area attack sort of? You see the tracers and everything and hear the sounds of the AC-47?

Re: [suggestion] AC-47 Spooky

from what i read around in books they mainly used it in night ops, it would drop flares and then use the mini guns in a circle...and thier were a fair amount of them flying around in vietnam.

Base defense...as in re-take captured bases? J/K, they are a reckoning force, especially in defense.SGT.JOKER wrote:From what Ive read it was used alot in base defence as well.

Anyone seen john wayne's green berets? Other than the terrible effects the epic part was the spooky attack

hm, anybody thinking of the AC130 suggestions for regular PR? if not, read the arguments against it and replace AC130 with AC47

Honestly I dont see this happening, at least as a flyable plane, even though it was fun in BFV and EoD, maybe use it as an area attack on the VC/NVA attack on Fire Base maps?

Id love to see this used on supply routes like they were used on the Ho Chi Minh trail when the planes would just tear trucks full of supplies into ribbons.

Re: [suggestion] AC-47 Spooky
If it's used as a commander asset, it would be awesome. It shouldn't be as damaging as artillery or guided munitions are in regular PR, but maybe make it more akin to the mortar strikes: good against infantry and lightly armored vehicles. Make the plane fly overhead like a UAV in vanilla BF2 and script it to fire prolonged bursts at the ground. It wouldn't get as many kills as other assets, but it would be great area denial. Kind of the ultimate suppressing fire, eh?
As an asset, I wholeheartedly approve, but this should not be used as a flyable vehicle. A whole squad would be tied up flying and manning the guns, which would actually be a detriment to the American side in the long-run. If the VC or NVA team uses the jungle to their advantage, as they should, there will always be an American squad sitting and waiting for infantry squads to spot enemy positions, instead of doing that themselves, then requesting an asset from the commander.
